Smiley Coffee (@smileycoffee1972) is the first ever brick and mortar concept from the iconic Smiley Company (@smiley), and its Founder Franklin Loufrani.😊

Located on Ludlow Street and created by Founder and CEO Eve Juskaite (@studio.environmental), the cafe was built with a distinctly European sensibility running through everything from the interiors to the packaging to the drinks. Conceived as a storytelling concept store, the space reflects the origins of one of the world’s most recognizable brands, expressed through carefully crafted limited-edition beverages in a room designed to feel like more than just a coffee stop. ☕

This summer, Smiley Coffee introduces a fresh seasonal menu alongside soft serve, giving the neighborhood a new reason to stop in and stay a while. One of the most iconic names in the world just refreshed its only cafe menu. 🍦

Interior designed by @studio.environmental is inspired by the architecture of 19th century Parisian newspaper kiosk. The space feels at once lived-in and carefully composed, with rich wood detailing in red sapele, vintage brass fixtures, and bench seating designed to foster both solitude and community. Jazzy, analog music — echoing Loufrani’s personal playlist — drifts through the air, while the scent of hand-poured espresso mingles with the tactile luxury of custom garments and thoughtfully constructed packaging. The design is steeped in nostalgia, not as a theme, but as a sensory memory — every texture, tone, and temperature intentionally chosen to evoke a feeling rather than dictate a style.
