C-1 / 02 / Human Traces

The cast connectors are where C-1 becomes most human.
Their rough surfaces were not added as an aesthetic gesture. They are the natural result of sand casting and of the people involved in making each part.
I chose to preserve that evidence rather than refine it away.

The object remains industrial, but never anonymous.

For this chair, aluminum was not just a material choice.

It became the rule of the project.

The structure, the seat and the connectors all had to belong to the same material world.

I was interested in what happens when you accept the limits of a material, and let them guide the object.

Part 2 will focus on the cast aluminum connectors.

No screws, no fuss, just a tight fit. 🔩

A-1 Trestless by @Studio.leika

These trestles are crafted from galvanized steel profiles, chosen for their industrial reliability and strength. The design relies on laser-cutting and bending to allow the parts to wrap around one another. A 10 mm steel rod locks the structure together through pressure, eliminating the need for traditional fasteners. This approach results in a flat-pack object where the final form is dictated by manufacturing logic and structural stability.

A small click can change how a product feels.

With A-1, I wanted the structure itself to solve the connection- without screws or hidden mechanisms.

The steel profiles wrap around each other, and a 10 mm steel rod keeps the pressure in place.

When it locks, the click confirms the connection.

That moment matters.

Every detail should earn its place.

This project started with a simple question:
What is the minimum an object needs in order to exist?

The answer wasn't fewer parts.
It was making sure every part had a reason to be there.

A personal exploration into eyewear design.
Every project begins with a constraint...
Swipe to see part of the process.
For this one, I limited myself to laser cutting, machining, and bending. The form followed the process.
Built from bent spring steel and reduced to the essentials, this project was an attempt to balance structure, lightness, and presence.
This is the result.
