Things we found on Pag:

red soil on clean shoes and floors
sea and salt
wind and stone
plants that looked dead but weren’t
plants that refuse to behave
long shadows
and twisted bark

So we put everything together for @kai.house.pag

A dinner shaped by the landscape

The wedding dinner was held at @kumparicka goat farm, at a table surrounded by the garden and the landscape beyond it, already a strikingly beautiful setting.

I foraged with just a colour palette in mind, one inspired by the huge artichokes growing beside the table.

The intention was to let the materials retain their own character, to make something that felt as though it belonged there, rather than something brought in from elsewhere.

For vessels, I chose handmade coffee cups and bowls created by @marijana_zlatec_ceramics for the couple’s coffee shop. And because of their connection to the sea, I used rocks from my collection of beach finds as candle holders, with beeswax candles tucked into them.

The table became a landscape of its own.

Flowers seemed to emerge from the surrounding meadow and garden. Tall grasses moved with the evening air, stems rose and bent above the table, while smaller, denser arrangements appeared between the plates.

Each composition was different, partly inspired by the rhythm of the meal itself - like small plates of seasonal food, each with its own character, together forming a larger whole.

And everything smelled of wild fennel.

Behind the scenes

Thank you @illiotropio for moral support and driving (with) me around.

Thank you Zoja and Josip for trusting me to do my thing completely and @ivanavaresko and @zarahrvatin for capturing it so beautifully. And to @peacenaaa from @atelier__mirna for your vision.

To @tita.winkler and everyone at @kumparicka for hospitality, amazing food and letting me crash on your couch.

And to @almarosa_flower_farm, @helmi.florals and @sanjam_rozice for guidance and your willingness to help 💚 by @studio.proplanak

Zoja & Josip, in Istria

It didn’t really feel like I made this bouquet.

For me, this wedding started in the most beautiful way - walking and driving around Kvarner & Istria, scouting and foraging for materials with my dear friend @illiotropio.

We found a huge carpet of long, wild Stipa strands on a otherwise empty field. Later, delicate wild flax surprised us on a clearing on the hill, a ‘proplanak’ actually. The daintiness, colour and movement of the two instantly clicked together and made sense to me.

Just a handful of things we found, gathered at the right moment, and allowed to move and behave as they naturally do.

This was the beginning of a wedding entirely shaped by the landscape and by locally foraged material. It was a great reminder that abundance doesn’t necessarily mean having more.

Earlier this year, we created a dried centerpiece vase for the opening of @narconceptstore in Zagreb, where a selection of our other work is also on display. Somehow, forgot to show you this beauty before, sorry. by @studio.proplanak
