I’ve picked up the 'Netherlands' theme once again, this time using a geometric pattern I call Crazy Triangles. I wanted to see if I could capture some of my country's most famous dishes in these sharp, simple shapes.

Here are the color combinations I’ve used:

🇳🇱 Dutch - Bright & Dark: Based on the classic colors of our national flag.
🧡 Oranje Tompouce: Custard slice with that specific bright orange icing we all love on national holidays.
🍰 Tompouce: That iconic pink-and-white custard slice (a Dutch birthday staple!).
🍟 Patat Speciaal: Fries with mayo, curry ketchup, and onions.
🥬 Stamppot Boerenkool: Traditional winter mash with curly kale.
🥕 Hutspot: Traditional winter mash with potatoes, carrots, and onions.

Besides the flag, I really enjoyed drawing inspiration from our local food, but the possibilities are pretty much endless.

Spring is clearly on my mind, which may explain why these rather cheerful little patterns have begun to appear on my screen. I suspect there may be more colour variations to come, and perhaps even one involving tulips.

For the moment, they can already be found in my @loominate.eu studio.

I can quite see them finding their way into a summer dress...

Zo eind januari begint bij mij de lente, ondanks de vrieskou, toch al een beetje te kriebelen. De eerste pollen zijn alweer gespot en gevoeld, hier en daar laat een krokusje zich voorzichtig zien en de voorjaarsvakantie komt al aardig dichterbij. De winter is leuk hoor, maar wanneer het voorjaar zich een beetje laat zien kan het mij niet snel genoeg gaan en zit ik met mijn hoofd eigenlijk al in april. En zeg je april, dan zeg je Koningsdag!

Zit jij net als ik ook met je hoofd in april en wil je eigenlijk GISTEREN aan de slag met die nieuwe Koningsdag outfit? Lekker doen! “Zelf weten, is jouw leven” zegt @sannevanarnhem dan.

Deze printjes van een tijdje terug hebben een kleine update gekregen. Je vindt ze op Loominate.eu (link in bio) en er komen nog meer Oranje printjes aan.

It’s been a little quiet here.
Not because nothing was happening... quite the opposite!

Life has been full, in all its familiar and unpredictable ways. While I continued designing behind the scenes, I did not always find the time or the energy to appear here. Making comes easily to me. Speaking about it takes a little more intention.

So this feels like a good moment to return.

Meet Bohemian Flowers, a design I created quite some time ago. I only recently added five more colour variations, and now it finally feels complete.

All six versions are now available to order on fabric via @loominate.eu, a new European platform that supports independent designers.

"Vincent" by Don Mclean is one of my all time favourite songs. It is a poignant tribute to the life and struggles of Vincent van Gogh, reflecting on his brilliance, suffering, and misunderstood genius.

Clearly I am no Van Gogh and this design has absolutely nothing to do with Van Gogh either, but every time I see it I can't help hearing Don Mclean singing those beautiful first words... Starry starry night...

This design is called Winter Night, or ST2407 when SKU's are your thing, and it is the second design in my Christmas Past collection, inspired by the 1940s.

130 days until Christmas!

Generally I don't begin to think about Christmas until the 20th of December, but since we planted last year's Christmas tree in our garden I have Christmas on my mind every day.

I'm not sure I can say that's something I enjoy, but at least it inspired me to draw some Christmassy things that I can share with you waaaaay ahead of time.

This Mistletoe Floral is the first design as part of a mini collection called Christmas Past, inspired by the 1940s.

Today I was greeted by a freezer door left open. Soft, snowy ice had taken over the drawers. I removed all the freezer fluff, emptied the bucket in the garden, grabbed a handful of snow and shouted: SNOWBALL FIGHT!!

So next time your children are bored, just leave the freezer door open because a snowball fight in June is THE BEST cure for summer boredom.

The freezer fiasco reminded me to add my Deconstructed Snowman pattern to my licensing catalogue. Consider it done!

I created this pattern about a year ago as part of the #3x3challenge by @sketchdesignrepeat. I love how the mushrooms seem to sprout from the vertical lines.
