Studio Veive is pleased to present a newly available work by Lou Delius (b. 2001, Zürich). The artist explores the human condition through the lens of threshold, memory, and liminal drawing. Working at the intersection of paper and pigment, her practice reflects on the fragmentation of history within societies that struggle to conceive of what, or who, has disappeared. Through fragile, layered compositions nuanced with spectral undertones, Delius seeks to document the ghostly as a living presence, capturing the subtle sense of passage and instability inherent in contemporary existence.

Artist Spotlight | Henri Haake

Henri Haake (b. 1989, Lübeck) is a German visual artist whose painting practice explores the poetic resonance of everyday life through memory, perception, and layered reconstruction. His work unfolds as a dialogue between the visible and the obscured, where familiar scenes are transformed into atmospheric, introspective compositions. Working through processes of layering, overpainting, and reduction, Haake constructs images that gradually dissolve, leaving traces of earlier gestures beneath the surface. Figures and narratives remain partially visible, suspended between presence and disappearance, suggesting the instability of memory and perception. Color operates as a sensory rather than descriptive element, shaping mood and emotional tone while guiding the viewer through these ambiguous spaces.

Artist Spotlight | Raffael Bader

“I understand nature as a chaotic ground that strives for harmony. This seems to me to be a fundamental principle of life. I use the nature that surrounds us to create works in which I can face my inner conflicts. This includes interpersonal relationships and the search for understanding my role in this world. As the principle of the harmonic-chaotic thesis suggests, everything is in process.”

The Armory Show makes its definitive return to New York, taking over the Javits Center to anchor the fall art season. Moving far beyond a standard commercial fair, this year’s edition asserts itself as a dynamic, curated space where established market movements meet fresh, urgent perspectives from across the contemporary landscape.

Throughout the fairgrounds, the prevailing atmosphere reflects a shift toward depth and narrative rigor. Exhibitors are stepping away from high-gloss spectacle, instead framing their booths as focused, immersive environments—pairing canonical post-war masterworks alongside hyper-contemporary inquiries, presenting ambitious solo surveys, and fostering cross-generational dialogues that invite slower, more contemplative viewing.

For the intentional collector navigating an increasingly complex market, The Armory Show remains a critical compass: a place not only to re-engage with familiar, enduring names, but to uncover the emerging practices shaping the future of the medium. Below, we’ve highlighted 10 standout booth presentations that capture the essential energy, materiality, and curatorial vision of this year’s fair.

Exhibition Spotlight | Mathieu Cherkit, Tendrement

For his first exhibition at Semiose Gallery, Mathieu Cherkit presents fifteen paintings that share a unit of place, all originating in or near his house-workshop. This apparent coherence is above all the pretext for a pictorial research on the question of points of view. The house is only a context, a primer, and its objects of the elements of composition. Each painting works the gaze – where it rests, and how the painting rebuilds it. The artist aggregates, combines, articulates and fuses the movements of the body and the path of the eyes, making the familiar and everyday space a place of constantly renewed visual experiences.

This plurality of viewpoints is primarily due to the temporality of the realisation of the canvases, painted from the middle of the day following a precise method: each part is worked at the same time in order to benefit from equal light day after day. - Camille Richert

On view until October 31, 2026.

Spotlighting one of Tomás Saraceno’s most influential works: On Space Time Foam (2012).

In this piece, the Argentine artist Saraceno conceived a large transparent membrane (which he amusingly calls la lasagna) that visitors can get into. Folded in three layers, it is suspended at 25-metres above the ground, providing a radical bodily experience.

The artist writes: “Let us invent an instrument that all the humans in the planet can play at the same time, so that when you play one string it reverberates in all the other strings. That will tune us all. When we are able of producing a harmony as a species then maybe somebody else will hear us.” taken in Milano by @studio.veive

Interview | Austin Hayman

In this candid sit-down, Austin Hayman reflects on his inaugural solo exhibition at Make Room, titled ‘Looking for a Friend’.

Rather than documenting major milestones, Hayman’s practice anchors itself in life’s subtle routines, the small, repeated instances that quietly shape how we remember a place or a time. Split between his roots in Southern California and his upbringing amidst the rural landscapes of Northern California, his work captures a gentle stillness, translating personal relationships into atmospheric domestic scenes. Approaching each canvas with an intuitive, music-like fluidity, he layers personal objects and private gestures to build subtle portraits of his inner circle.

Our conversation dives into the mechanics of his quiet compositions, his evolving relationship with colour, and how capturing his friends on canvas became an affectionate tribute to the city he calls home.
