The Visionary Room ~ The inner room of the exhibition, a tent-like structure, operates as an immersive, liminal space—part refuge, part testing ground. The experience draws on the atmosphere of visiting a tarot reader: slightly unnerving, intimate, and charged with the possibility of glimpsing an unknown future.
Participants are invited to move through a series of prompts and actions including drawing and sketching, simple printmaking and mark-making, selecting a card or “reading” that offers a provocation, directive, or imagined future
Visitors are asked to imagine themselves forward—into possibility, into risk, into an unstable but generative future. Emerging from the tent, participants carry with them a trace of the encounter: a print, a drawing, a chosen card, or a shift in perception.
Consults with the ‘Visionary’ are 45 mins long and $13. Limited spaces left for ‘Hungry Ghosts’ season.

Pixie Clogs 🐷

This work grew out of a collection of pixie clogs — discarded fossilised casings from ancient bugs found in several parts of South Australia, particularly around Elliston, where our residency took place.

I remember seeing these strange little things as a kid growing up in the area. I always thought they were cute, but had absolutely no idea they were ancient fossils.

During the residency, I did a bit of investigating using Bruce’s science books and discovered that these curious, forms belonged to an ancient dinosaur-looking weevil nicknamed a stone pig. The fossilised cocoons are known as pixie clogs — and honestly, the name couldn’t be more perfect.

There are a couple of little examples of the actual pixie clogs in the exhibition. After Hungry Ghosts closes, they’ll return to the place where they were found, on Cindy and Bruce’s property.

The exhibition is closed this weekend, but I’ll be there Wednesday afternoon and Saturday early next week.

We’re open 10am–2pm daily, so drop in, have an amazing meal at award-winning Pony & Cole, and come and see Hungry Ghosts before it disappears. 🐷👻
