My first post! Hi everyone. I’m currently completing my KLC certificate in Residential Interior Design. I’ve set up an instagram to show my work / tips / things I love. First up is this corner in my kitchen. The oak sideboard was an investment but stores tonnes of stuff (kids toys) and fits perfectly. The sliding doors rather than cupboards means it’s much easier to access for both the kids and us. The lamp is huge but fills the space and creates soft light in the kitchen. I personally love the colours of the artwork and the focal point that’s created with the dark frame. Taking photos isn’t really my forte but sharing the bathroom here anyway! The bathroom is panelled which really warms it up and makes it feel cosy, and we’ve finally added (3 years later) a café curtain and relaxed roman to soften the space. The ledge above the bath is perfect for adding candles and decor - the painting is from Etsy. The opposite corner of the kitchen! We added the floating oak shelf for visual interest and I’ve been slowly adding to it over time. The art is from eBay / vintage. The walls are Farrow & Ball School House white, possibly my fave colour ever. Quartzite worktops in a pale grey to go with the Howdens sage green kitchen units. Warmth added by the brushed brass taps and handles. Slate floor. Mess, not shown, models own. 😂 by @studio33.interiordesign

Do you ever feel a room isn’t quite ‘working’? That’s how I felt about this room. I loved the original components but somehow it didn’t come together.

A new sofa wasn’t on the cards. Could it be as simple as changing the paint colour?

Having swatched so many, I was looking for the perfect rich brown - not too dark, not too pink, not too yellow, not too brown!

I think this is it - Lick Beige 02. A last minute (day before!) decision, and then frantic calls to various stockists to get it in time. 🫠

Bookshelves and skirtings all painted the same colour, with the ceiling in Wimborne white by Farrow & Ball.

The pictures you see aren’t perfect but it’s a small room and now the navy sofa feels very purposeful. It’s cosy, warm and inviting without being dark. The whole scheme comes together now.
