Studio 79 presents ‘Under the Barnlights’ with Barney Bentall ✨ The September SessionSongs & Stories from the Stage & SaddleBarney recently opened his My Life in Ranching and Rock & Roll tour to 3 sold-out rooms and gave something far deeper than a show. Part music. Part storytelling. Part living memoir. From reflections of a teenage boy discovering rock & roll… to a life shaped by ranching, family, and the courage to choose his own path, every moment felt honest, grounded, and real. With visuals of his Cariboo ranch and the people who shaped his life, the entire evening unfolded like a film quiet, cinematic, and deeply human. This musician, author and visual artist has earned 5 JUNO Awards, as well as a certified golden platinum record. His songwriting has seen his works recorded by and with many of the greats, as well as his own bands, Junkhouse, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, and Lee Harvey Osmond. I am excited to announce Ron Hawkins will be coming to the studio this Fall ✨ and apparently I wasn’t the only one as the show sold out from the newsletter (get on it! Link in bio). But we’ve added a second show! As lead singer/multi-instrumentalist and main songwriter of Canada’s legendary Lowest of the Low, Ron Hawkins has long been revered as one of Canada’s greatest contemporary singer-songwriters. Over the years, Ron has written and released 9 Lowest of the Low albums, 6 solo discs, 3 records with his band The Rusty Nails, and 3 records as Ron Hawkins and The Do Good Assassins - that’s 20 albums of original material to date. Jake Good has captivated audiences (I’ve witnessed it!) from amphitheatres to cafes with his powerful 5 octave vocal range. Through his music, he shares a heartfelt journey soulfully delivered from the heart. I am thrilled to have Jake in our intimate space this August. ✨Jake has had the privilege of sharing the stage with Juno award winner Serena Ryder and French Canadian album of the year and male artist of the year Stef Paquette. He has co-written and collaborated with two time Gold Record recipient Duncan Stanbury and worked with Juno nominated producer/engineer Ben Leggett to name a few. Studio 79 presents ‘Under the Barnlights’ with Brooks & Bowskill (with full band) ✨ The 1st of 4 barn sessions. @brooksandbowskill is the collaboration of Canadian wife-and-husband musicians Brittany Brooks and Jimmy Bowskill (Blue Rodeo, formerly The Sheepdogs). Their genre-bending music journeys between folk, country-rock, rock and roll, drenched in 1960s/70s nostalgia and stamped with their own unique sound. They have quickly become known for their soaring vocal harmonies, expert musicianship and electric live performances with their band The Hometown Beauts.🙏🏼 I am very excited to announce this series. Two bright stars of Newfoundland’s music scene, Youngtree & Carole Bee, return to the studio stage this July. ✨They have been playing music together since 2015, developing a close musical and creative partnership through their original touring band Youngtree & The Blooms.
