As some of you might remember, 3 years ago, my father suddenly passed away due to complications during surgery. Without knowing it at the time, this heartfelt loss was the final push I needed to take a leap towards a new trajectory in my creative life. One filled with futuristic art and paintings.

Now I’m so happy and grateful to share ‘Selamat’, a short documentary made by good friend and talented director @florianvermeulen about the legacy and relationship I had with my father and how we’re still connected through my creative practice to this day.

To be honest, the last few months were quite intense, preparing for the exhibition at @de.plesman , creating new paintings and filming all the shots for the documentary. But in more than one way, it feels that with this new body of work I’ve come full circle and am finally ready to embrace my inheritance. Or as they say, ‘to boldly go where no man has gone before!’✨

Thank you to everyone who joined me for the opening of my solo exhibition A Newtype Future at De Plesman Hotel last Thursday night!

I was and still am taken aback by this amazing experience, and I look forward to what is yet to come.

A Newtype Future is now officially open and can be seen in the stairwell of De Plesman until the 3rd of April, and of course, you’re all invited.

Through a series of paintings, I explore what the future could look and feel like if humanity accepted that our reality flows from a single energy field, connecting all living beings as family.

The recently added ad-barrier really is doing it’s job getting me off of instagram, unintentionally helping me find a better balance in my social media (read addiction) use. At the same time I can’t help but feel used with these changes towards commercialization. I’m thinking of partially switching to Mastodon. Does anyone have experience using this platform? taken in The Hague - The Netherlands by @studio_ivh
