Even as a child, Judith loved to pause for a moment: to watch the leaves moving in the wind, simply lie down and look up at the sky, follow the play of light and shadow, or watch a curtain gently fluttering in the breeze.

“I could fill an entire book with photographs of billowing curtains,” Judith says with a laugh.
These small, often seemingly insignificant moments continue to fascinate her to this day. They bring her back to the here and now. Because all too often, our thoughts are caught up in the past or already somewhere in the future, and we overlook the small moments happening right in front of us.

Judith studied graphic design and photography and has been working independently as a photographer and interior designer since 2010. She also spent six years working in an architecture studio. “That time sharpened and changed the way I see things.” Her close attention to space, light, proportions, and materials continues to shape her work today.

The idea of combining photography and ceramics emerged shortly after the birth of her son. During that time, Judith spent a great deal of time at home: “Working with clay really slowed me down.”
In her work, two different ways of capturing a moment come together: photography preserves a fleeting instant, while ceramics give it a physical frame. Yet the frame is not simply a boundary. The ceramic surface reflects and absorbs light, changing with the viewer’s perspective. In this way, it complements the photographic image, casts new light on it, and allows it to appear different and alive again and again.

The result is a symbiosis of image and frame. Photography and craftsmanship enter into a dialogue.

This is a: „i cry like a baby moment“
I would never have dreamed that my work would be published in the AIT. I have read countless architecture magazines and now I find the Room of Silence in one of them. Together with a wonderful team, I was able to realise this project.
It cost me a few sleepless nights, but it was worth it. I am so grateful!
