I’ve been reading ‘Queer Natures, Queer Mythologies’, which is a collection of essays and expansions, published and unpublished, from scholar Sam See.

See asks: how would positioning queerness as a nature change theories of binary attraction, of power, and-or expel sexological fallacies.

As I expand on @_occentatia_ (Occentatia) in direct and indirect mOdAliTies oF mAkIЙⓖ, I think of what nature’s personification of queerness and transness would be. Would it be humanoid? Would it imitate our image? Would it only have two genders if made in the image of a person?Would it feel powerful? Would it produce something small, large, solid, soft, liquid, gaseous? As I have these questions and ideas, I equally ponder on the incorporation of themes like transformation, control, horror, and paradise.

During the summer I storyboarded the game demo for Occentatia. During that storyboarding, I illustrated the save statue that players would find as they progress playing. That save statue is now REAL through the efforts of (Sylvia Wolf/ @ Sylvia_Voolf on X) and @8bitrag . Once the idea for the initial sprite was rendered by Sylvia, I communicated details and specs with Raghav to scale up the statue and heighten the rendering/ detail.

Planning out my next artwork while writing about the ideas that come to mind, the design of the figures, and more. It is always so healing to go back to a sketchbook and allow the practice of play to happen. I can get so pent up in the idea of something looking polished or sleek, which also feels perpetuated by working digitally. I encourage everyone as I have reminded myself, to work in a sketchbook and just make any and all marks. I have had such fun slaying around with my acrylic markers. I do find them an amazing substitute to traditional acrylics. You can use water to dilute, spread and assist with layering too, which is great when on the go/ traveling, or not wanting to set up a typical painting station.

The markers I’m using are @jusartofficial . They provided amazing saturation, easy ability to layering and reworking, and great accessibility to color mixing with assistance of water brushes and/ or traditional merging of paints.

Sorcerer: Spells Cast Learned Survival
Embossed in stone, the sorcerer appears inert—monumental, hardened, and fixed in place. Yet the figure is not lifeless. Spellcasting becomes the sole sign of breath, a quiet or flamboyant sign of life within confinement.
‘Sorcerer’ acts as a metaphor for queer survival: a hardened exterior formed through necessity, misreading, and protection, while beneath it lives an accumulation of brilliance, adaptability, and flame. The spells cast are not displays of power, but learned responses—rituals of endurance refined over time.
Here, magic is survival. Stillness is armor. Life persists, even when only allowed to surface as incantation.

you were an absolute blast and showed up for the GOILS and I. Thank you Arron DeCevia Mann Sanders for having me part of such an amazing cast and night. It was such a pleasure to perform in the same event with the babes Fil A Gotts Elijah J Sanchez Marina C Jones Ceduxion Carrington. Thank you always and forever Billy McKenny for having space such as Club Diesel for us all to express ourselves and cultures in such flamboyance.
