My secret is OUT! 🐶🦴🐾

I’m SO excited to share that I’ve been selected as one of the artists for @maggiesscottiestrail Scottie’s in the City, a public art trail happening across Glasgow this summer in support of Maggie’s Centres.

My design was chosen from over 300 submissions, and I’ve also been selected by a sponsor to bring it to life on one of the giant Scottie dog sculptures!

There will be 40 Scottie dogs placed all around the city, so you can grab a map and go exploring to find them all - a perfect summer adventure I’d say 😉

At the end of the trail the sculptures will be auctioned to raise money for Maggie’s, supporting people affected by cancer 💛

Right now myself and the other artists have started painting the sculptures at @buchanangalleries in a temporary studio where The Entertainer toy shop used to be - you can peek through the shutters if you’re passing by to see us at work! Give us a “woof” if you do 🤣🐾

My design is under wraps just now but I’ll be posting behind the scenes painting action and close-ups of my fetching ‘painters joggies’ 🫠🤣

THANK YOU to everyone who donated their hard earned pennies to raise money for my mini Scottie dog, McDoodle for @maggiescentres @maggiesscottiestrail 💛🥹

I’m so grateful to be able to have him as our Studio Paperpattern mascot for my after school classes and mobile arts and crafts birthday workshops. Also a great conversation starter and another way to spread the word about all the wonderful things Maggies does to support those in need 💛

This wee note will be framed and proudly hung on my studio wall - thanks pals 🙌

My Scottie is leaving behind a soggy (but luscious) Scotland for… CALIFORNIA 🌴🌴🌴☀️☀️☀️

One can only hope the new, generous owners will have me over for a reunion 🤣🙌🤪

I’m hoping my pup has packed factor 50

Ever turned Lego pieces and cardboard scraps into printing tools? You should. The results were brilliant! The kids experimented with pattern, texture and colour, layering different shapes to create their own unique prints inspired by architecture and construction sites.

A great reminder that creativity doesn’t need expensive supplies – just a bit of curiosity and a willingness to have a go! Ps: put an apron on 🫠

Today is National Eczema Awareness Day, so I thought I’d share something a wee bit personal - with only a small amount of oversharing. You’re welcome.

I’ve lived with atopic eczema since I was very young. Over the years, it’s popped up in various places, because apparently it enjoys a tour of the body. But my hands have often taken the brunt of it and I’ve been super self-conscious for as long as I can remember (it’s okay, I’m over that now).

It’s not always ideal when you’re a maker. There have been plenty of days when my hands have been sore, cracked, itchy, uncomfortable and feeling like they’re on fire.

BUT I’m very grateful that it’s not stoped me from drawing, painting, sculpting, making. I just need to navigate it a little differently when I’m flaring.

Not bad for a pair of hands that spend half their life covered in moisturiser 🙌😆
