We’re honored to be included in Forbes' 2026 America’s Top 200 Residential Architects and once again recognized among America’s Best-in-State Residential Architects, representing Colorado.

Together, these honors recognize more than three decades of work guided by a simple belief: every home should be singular, designed for one client, one place, and one particular way of living.

We’re grateful to see our work recognized on both a state and national level, and to the clients, collaborators, craftspeople, and Studio B team who make it possible.

Introducing the Studio B Minute, real questions, real answers, and absolutely no rehearsal.

No questions provided in advance. The only warning the team got was what day the camera would be pointed at them.

The result is an unscripted look at the people behind Studio B, their perspectives, personalities, opinions, and the way they think about design.

One thing they did apparently prepare for?

We gave no wardrobe direction, yet somehow black was overwhelmingly the top choice.

A little design inspiration outside the studio.

Our team recently stopped by Studio Como to explore their Poliform display and thoughtfully curated collection of contemporary furniture and design.

Always good to step away from our desks, experience great design firsthand, and connect with our creative community.

Thanks for having us, Studio Como!

Should you hire an architect before you buy land?

A spectacular view doesn't always mean you've found the right property.

Topography, access, orientation, and even neighboring properties can influence what's possible, what it will cost, and how a home will ultimately live.

As Studio B Principal Kyle Burds, AIA, explains:
"People are generally very good at recognizing the beauty of a property. What they don't always see is how to preserve what makes that place special while still achieving everything they want in a home."

Our latest Insight explores why involving an architect before purchasing land can reveal opportunities, avoid costly surprises, and help ensure the property supports the life you envision.

For Noah, inspiration starts with nature. At Studio B, it starts with the site, sun, history, landscape, and materials.

Design that feels less imposed and more like it was always meant to be there.

What If There Isn’t a View?

Not every site comes with a mountain range or distant horizon. Sometimes the opportunity is to create something worth looking toward.

At Brick City, privacy within its neighborhood was more important than capturing outward views. The home responds by turning inward around a private courtyard and pool.

Expansive walls of glass connect the living spaces to this protected outdoor room, bringing daylight deep into the home and creating views across the courtyard rather than beyond the property.

When there isn’t a view to capture, architecture can create its own. taken in Denver, Colorado by @studiob_arch

Five years with Olivia.

Since joining Studio B, Olivia has become an integral part of our interiors team, helping shape homes from early design, interior architecture and material selections through furnishings and decorative lighting.

Her approach reflects something fundamental to how we work at Studio B: architecture and interiors are strongest when they're conceived together. With a thoughtful eye and detail oriented, Olivia helps carry that vision through every phase while building meaningful relationships with our clients along the way.

From projects across Colorado to design inspiration gathered at Salone del Mobile and throughout Italy, she brings curiosity and a love of design to everything she does.

Congratulations on five years, Olivia. We're grateful for everything you bring to Studio B.

Before a plan takes shape, we look at what the site is already telling us.

For Tie House, the design began by mapping the path of the sun alongside specific view corridors, from nearby mountain peaks and Coal Creek Canyon to White Ranch Park and the distant Denver skyline.

Those conditions helped determine the home’s orientation, the organization of spaces, and where openings could capture both changing daylight and particular views.

The result isn’t simply a home positioned on a site. It’s a design that could only make sense on this one. taken in Boulder, Colorado by @studiob_arch

A great site isn’t defined by a single view.

It’s the combination of what you see, how the sun moves across the property, how you arrive, where you spend your time, and how the home connects you to the places you use every day.

At Vista Drive, those conditions become part of the architecture. The goal isn’t simply to point the house toward the best view, but to understand how the site can shape daily life.

Because choosing a property isn’t just about where you want to look. It’s about how you want to live.

What does Singular Modern mean?

For Drew, it’s about distillation. One clear idea carried from the beginning of a project through every decision, detail, and space.

Not more for the sake of more. A comprehensive idea, thoughtfully refined from concept to completion.

That clarity is at the heart of how we design at Studio B.

At Linden Grove, a restrained palette of concrete, wood, stone, steel, and soft neutral finishes repeats throughout the home. Rather than asking each surface to make its own statement, the materials work together, allowing proportion, texture, light, and craftsmanship to come forward.

Restraint doesn't mean less character. It means being intentional about what belongs.
