This is such a fun beginner friendly sewing project 😍

If you were interested in creating the same or a similar top / dress these are how I found my fabric measurement. You can adjust them to suit your preferred fit and strap width.

measurements

For the main pieces, cut 2 rectangles.

For the width: Measure around the chest, then divide that measurement by 2. Multiply that number by 1.5 to get the width of EACH rectangle.

Height: Cut to your desired top length, adding approximately 2cm for the double-rolled hem at the bottom and 3–4cm at the top to create the strap casing. This extra fabric will be folded down and stitched in place to form the casing. The amount you add will depend on how wide you want your casing to be and how thick your straps are, so make sure there’s enough room for them to slide through comfortably.

Cut 2 narrow fabric strips for the straps. Make them long enough to tie at the shoulders and thread through the front and back. by @studiobias.au

This little top turned out so sweet ! I immediately need to make another one 🥹😍

I self drafted this top using a rectangle as my base and it was such a great beginner friendly project!

Tutorial coming this week! 💓

I’ve put the full hack together here so you can save this Reel and come back to it when you’re ready to make one 😍
