Highly scientific (not). Zero credentials (truth). Let’s get to it!

Iced matcha latte, soft and pretty, ordered like she’s romanticizing her whole life today? You’re a Heirloom girl.

Flat white, simple and lovely, the order of a girl who already knows what she likes? You’re a Classic girl.

Cold brew with cold foam, still soft, still sweet, just a little more edge? You’re a Modern girl.

Comment your order and tag your coffee date, let’s see if you’re template twins too. ☕️🍵

This is your sign to review your inquiry process 🦋

Are you asking for details they might not have yet or may not even be relevant? Does every field need to be required? Is it clear what happens next once they press submit? by @studiodukesa

September, in photos 🍂

September felt like the start of a new season in more ways than one.

We started another year of homeschool and settled back into a familiar rhythm.

I also challenged myself to post on Instagram every single day this month, which really just meant showing up for my business every day. And I’m genuinely so proud of myself for that.

In between all of the busyness, I’m especially glad we made time for family, explored a few places we’d never been before, and enjoyed autumn together.

Looking back, September feels full in the best way.

Here are a few moments from it all 🧡 by @studiodukesa

You may or may not have noticed but I posted EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. in September…

Was it awkward ? HELL YES.

Did I overthink, wonder if anyone cared and have moments where I wanted to skip it? ABSOLUTELY.

But I kept showing up anyway and I’m SO proud of myself for that.

I also remembered that I really like making things. Editing Reels. Playing with an idea. Finding a hook. Figuring out how to explain something I know in a way that might actually help someone else.

And to the people who were here all month liking posts, leaving comments, replying to my Stories...
I SEE you. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Taking the time to support someone’s business in those tiny ways means more than you probably realize. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

September was uncomfortable. A little awkward. A lot of posting. And I’m really glad I did it 🙃 by @studiodukesa

If your homepage feels busy, I would not start by redesigning the whole thing.

I would start by asking what the page actually needs to do. Show the work. Give enough context. Make the next step clear.

Quick win: open your homepage on your phone. Does it immediately feel like the work you want to be known for? by @studiodukesa

One of the easiest ways to make your photography website feel more elevated costs nothing.

Here’s where I’d start:

Step 1: Pick one page.

Your homepage is probably the easiest. Don’t try to audit your whole website at once.

Step 2: Look at one section at a time and ask:

What is my eye supposed to notice first here?

If the answer isn’t obvious, something may be competing for attention. Maybe there are too many photographs trying to lead. Maybe the headline, subheading, button and decorative type all feel equally important. Maybe the photograph just needs a little more room around it.

Step 3: Remove one thing.

One image you don’t need. One line of copy that repeats something you already said. One decorative detail that isn’t adding much. Or simply give the photograph more space.

Step 4: Stop and look again.

You’re not trying to strip all the personality out of your website. You’re just creating a little more room for the thing someone actually came to see: your photography.

Sometimes making a website feel more considered has a lot less to do with adding something new and a lot more to do with knowing what can come out. by @studiodukesa

Maybe you’re at that point where your website just doesn’t feel like you anymore...

You know what you want it to reflect. You know how you want someone to feel when they land there. You’re just not quite sure how to bring it all together.

What stood out to me in this review was the confidence she felt once her website finally matched her business.

That’s really the goal. To have a website you’re proud to share because it feels like you. by @studiodukesa

This might be a creative-business-owner problem.

I find something I love and approximately five minutes later my brain is already going:

Could this be a Reel?

Could this become a series?

Could I teach this?

Could I make something out of it?

And sometimes... no.

Sometimes I want to read the book without reviewing it.

Make something without photographing the process.

Try a hobby without wondering if it belongs in my business.

Have an idea and let it stay completely unproductive.

I love making content. I love sharing what I’m working on.

I just don’t want every part of my creative life to immediately become material for the business.

Some things are actually more fun when nobody else needs to see them.

A lot of the strategy when designing my @showit templates came from years of designing custom websites for photographers.

Not the exact layouts but the decisions underneath them.

Project after project, I kept noticing the same things:

- A photograph usually felt stronger when I gave it more room.
- A page felt better when the path through it was clear.
- The design felt more considered when I stopped adding things just because there was space for them.

The strongest websites were rarely the ones trying hardest to get your attention. They gave the photography somewhere beautiful to live, then let the work do what it does best.

After enough custom projects, those decisions became instinctive. So, when I started designing the Studio Dukesa templates, that thinking naturally came with me.

Different layouts. Different personalities. Same question underneath all of them: How can we give your photography the room to shine? by @studiodukesa
