Some of my best shots this month from the @torraperformance shoot.

The highlight for me was the unique packaging. Playing with colour can be fun but it’s important to understand colour first.

In preparation for the shoot, setting the white balance was key. In post-production it’s vital to have the products colours stay true to its original form, even when colour-grading! This is a mistake I’ve seen other photographers make.

My two main priorities in post-production? Clean-up and colour correction — before anything else even comes into play.

Clean-up is non-negotiable. No one wants to see dust, scratches, or dents stealing attention from the product itself. Every detail matters, so I take the time to remove imperfections and present the product at its absolute best.

Then comes colour correction. Restoring accurate white balance is key to showing the product as it truly is. Over-editing or shifting colours too far can mislead customers and damage trust — and in e-commerce, trust is everything.

Only once those foundations are solid do I move into colour grading — enhancing, not altering.

Because this isn’t about changing reality… it’s about refining it.

Which lighting is best for your product? Diffused or harsh? Or both?

I always pan out my ideas after analysing the product, getting a feel of the texture, whether it’s a matte or glossy product. These factors determine what lighting I will use.

The key in this shot was in fact to use both lighting techniques. Diffused for the smooth gradient of the background whilst using a snoot to give me harsh shadows. Watch until the end for the final result!
