When do you appoint an interior designer?

Here is my advise;

As soon as you have hung up the phone giving your architect the instruction, you immediately pick up the phone and instruct an interior designer!!
When these two forces combine early on and get their heads together, no stone should go unturned and no plug socket shall be missed.

Introduce them early on and get the reno team ball rollin!

NEARLY THERE!!

Last week was one of those weeks where everything suddenly felt like it’s coming together.

Statement lighting going up, bathrooms coming to life, the pantry taking shape, wallpaper arriving, stone and reclaimed beams finally showing themselves off… and even the outdoor shower is in!

After years of planning every little detail, seeing them all become real is honestly such a good feeling.

There’s colour, texture, stone, timber, brass and plenty of personality, exactly what we wanted from this house.

Still plenty happening behind the scenes, but wow… we are SO close now!

Not going to lie this one’s given me some sleepless nights to work out “how I will figure out the perfect light” and then to “oh my, I hope it’s going to look ok” 😂

Every element of this home has been considered, from sketches, to concepts to full realisation…

Designing this light was a total joy, I really wanted it not to detract from stairs but add a sense of grandeur and impact.

When Gavin @cube3designandbuildltd sent the install images, I had a little smile and thought, phew this one’s looking good.. didn’t need to worry 😅👌

“Trust me…”

We always wanted the entrance to feel special. Something grand, but still warm and relaxed, with a real Ibiza-inspired feel and a nod to one of our favourite places.

When @studiofish.interiors presented this idea, she basically just said, “trust me.”

So we did.

And she definitely hasn’t let us down.

The natural stone, the scale of the space, the light and all those warm, imperfect textures have completely transformed the entrance. It feels dramatic without being too polished and has exactly that relaxed Ibizan character we wanted.

Personally, we think she’s absolutely nailed. A big thanks to the teams at @rothleytiling and @cube3designandbuildltd who helped bring this to life.

A snippet of life lately. ✨ by @studiofish.interiors

The final details are starting to bring this place to life!

It feels like everything is happening at once now. Handles are going on, lighting is going up, smart home finishes are being installed, marble is being templated and fitted, and we’re finally seeing all the different textures and materials we spent so long choosing come together.

The internal stone has started going up too, and we absolutely love it. Alongside the aged oak, marble, brass and all the colour, it’s finally starting to feel like the home we imagined rather than a building site.

Outside is moving just as quickly. Landscaping is now pushing around to the front, the garden is really taking shape, and there’s a very cool little feature being made for the girls’ treehouse that we’ll show properly soon…

The number of cars and trades outside probably sums up how busy the site is at the moment!

After such a long build, this is definitely the exciting bit. So much still to finish, but every week it feels more and more like home 🫶🏼

Starting to feel like the house is getting its personality now.

We’ve spent so much time focusing on the textures, tones and materials because we never wanted anything to feel flat or one dimensional. Every tile, colour and finish changes depending on the light and what it sits next to, and that’s exactly what we wanted.

The herringbone floor, handmade-style textures, soft warm neutrals, feature stone, wood tones and all the little details are finally starting to come together. Even the girls’ bathroom tiles make the space feel fun without losing the overall feel of the house.

It’s mad how much difference the finishes make. A few months ago it was just blocks and plasterboard… now you can actually start to feel the atmosphere of the spaces.

Not just building a house anymore… now it’s about bringing the vision to life through textures, tones and details.

The next stage is where everything starts to change the feel of the home completely - cladding nearly complete, landscaping taking shape, feature stone choices, outdoor kitchen concepts, planting schemes, patios and those natural materials that look different every hour of the day depending on the light.

We’ve obsessed over every finish to create something that feels calm, warm and timeless. Organic modern with a luxury Ibiza-inspired feel, but still practical enough to be a proper family home.

Seeing the textures together for the first time makes it all start to feel real. Massive few months ahead!
