Boho-sa ganda!đŸȘ· This final project for my Fashion Trends class explores the journey of repurposing household textile—such as curtains, tablecloths, doilies and upholstery—into contemporary fashion. This aligns with the growing trend of upcycled fashion, as highlighted in The Fashion Exec’s Guide to Upcycling from Vogue Business, which emphasizes the industry’s shift towards circularity and resourcefulness. I drew inspiration from the local brand Glorious Dias, celebrated for its commitment to this design philosophy. Using the lace curtains I thrifted, I transformed them into romantic bohemian-style garments. The delicate lace-work perfectly complements the romantic, free-spirited nature of boho fashion. And by giving a new life into what could have been waste, this project supports circular fashion with contemporary design aesthetics. 📿 Designer & Creative Direction: @itsfranzflores Photography: @rongavaksel @_gavcati Set Design: @akkimihanam Stylist: @miumiyakes Assisted by: @stqrgirlgray Muse: @joannafts by @studiofranzflores
BabyGirl by Franz Flores A Final Project for Advanced Construction & Textiles III. The concept is a sweet response to my professor calling me “babygirl”—yet it goes beyond joining the “girl internet” trend or embodying the carefree essence of being “just a girl.” Think Sandy Liang’s S/S ‘23 “New York Princess” and ShuShu/Tong’s S/S ‘23 dreamy take on “Pretty Woman,” the patchwork and silhouette blends playful femininity with polished, wistful energy. It’s a nostalgic reflection of girlhood: distant yet deeply comforting. Constructed from patch-worked black and pink gingham oxford cotton and appliquĂ©d with eyelet lace, this bustier-column gown paired with butterfly sleeves reimagines girlhood with an endearing, “babygirl”-like twist. 🎀 Designer & Creative Direction: @itsfranzflores Photography: @wip_editor Set Design: @gelalato Stylist: @ayk4__________ Muse: @trinitygemora by @studiofranzflores
