A brief re-introduction to me, as I have some new photos @jiri.fineart

I feel like most of you know me IRL but for those that don't this is me.

I'm an irish glass artist and ceramicist ♥️

I studied Ceramics, Glass and Textiles in Crawford College (MTU) graduating in the middle of the pandemic, 2020.

This was a rocky start of a career path for me, and I worked service industry jobs until I happened upon a chance to work with Sue Donnellan @glasscraft_ireland

Working with Sue in her studio in Spiddal I got to learn so much about how a craft business runs and hone my glass fusing skills ❤️

After leaving Galway to return to Cork I tried to work other jobs while developing my glass business but I struggled to access any studio space as a craftsperson (the only suitable studio spaces available in Cork City for rent are reserved for visual artists) and I lost a lot of momentum and motivation.

In 2024 I finally got my own studio, by sticking a roof on an old shed in the back of the garden. It's by no means perfect, but it's my studio and I am so grateful to have it! This finally gave me the autonomy to design and produce my own work for the first time ❤️

In 2025 traveled to Porto, Portugal to intern with @ogaleriaceramica where I learned about all the behind the scenes of running a studio and slip casting porcelain. Also while in Porto I met Filipa @filipaviana.atelier and worked with her in @base.ateliercowork ❤️

I've returned to Ireland now and hoping I can make a way for myself to survive here as a craftsperson, and giving my little studio the full attention it deserves ⭐

My long term aim is to be able to focus on my own making with both glass and ceramics and also host classes and workshops to give access to these materials to anyone who wants to explore them.

I'm really grateful to be on this path and grateful to have you here with me. ❤️

Old photos highlighting my long love and connection with angels and fairies 🧚🏻‍♀️

My brother scanned all the negatives he found in my parents house and we spent the weekend looking through them.

It brought back so many memories of being a creative child, all I wanted was to make art and dress up, so it feels when I look back the path to this point in my life seems so clear. If only the interim didn't feel so turbulent and difficult. I wish I could go back and tell my child self to just follow the natural progression of my childhood dreams and where they would go ❤️

The first two photos are me with my Dad circa 2000? I'm not sure. I remember these fairy wings fondly and you can see how loved they were by the snags in the photos.

The third photo is 2006, me with Breda, my child minder and my neighbour, but we were so close I called her my 2nd Mum. She always loved angels, she read books on them, had bookmarks, had little glass decorations and cards of them. She believed that cabbage butterflies were angels that were your loved ones reminding you that they were with you. She believed the people we loved were always around us even when it seemed like they were gone.

It's almost 14 years since she passed away after an extended battle with cancer but every time I see a cabbage butterfly I wonder if it's her coming to let me know she is still here in some way.

I generally HATE Christmas shopping, and all crafters and makers know how difficult it is to find the time to make all the gifts you want to each year, so I designed these workshops as a way to have a fun, relaxing, cosy and creative evening while getting a start on the Christmas preparations!
