I wanted to revisit this checkered design one last time, and of course it turned out completely different than the first, even though everything was done the same — firing included. That’s Glazing 101 for you: no matter how consistent you may be, your materials and machines decide the final outcome.

This sample set of two small cups (ideal for espresso) will be up on Etsy soon. ☕️

A refire from some time ago. So hard to chose between pigmented glaze and clear glazes because both can be stunning! Used to glaze everything clear. The big vase is of course gonna be a clear one again.

Used my ‘Sand’ glaze on some cups! These have already been gifted, but should have some new cups available soon. 🤎

This one will be fired today… Eeeek. Praying to the kiln gods it’s dry enough and everything turns out well, so I can then safely carry it home just hours before the studio renovation starts. To then carry it back mid January for glazing!

Working on a cool new project in order to have many of these again soon. It involves liquid silicone — which costs an arm and a leg, lol. Thank god for clay being so affordable.

Done-ish. Should I give this vase a (very subtle) trumpet top? Maybe adding just two or three layers?

This is one of those pieces I had no idea how it was going to take shape when I started. Just created a tiny base and went for it — did for sure not plan the two curves! Or the height, lol.

Every coil is one full coil per row, and of course hand-rolled. Wanted to make it a little messy, which was actually harder as my mind subconsciously kept going back to perfectly even layers. So now I wonder if it should’ve been either messier, or more aligned. A lesson for next piece.

Added a little more height again. Still only halfway there… Finishing next week!

Back at it. ♥️ As shared last week on Stories I’ve had an unexpectedly long break, partially to blame on the sweetest pup that came to live with me and couldn’t stand being alone for even a minute. Things are going so much better now with my furry girl and I’m so happy to be back in the ceramics studio! Missed it. And missed you all!

This is what I’ve been working on today :-) Hoping to finish it this week, but it needs a lot of height still.

I thought it would be a good idea to refire this earthenware bowl/planter to stoneware, but now the glaze bubbled. Oops. Fourth fire? Suggestions?

Sadly starting to feel Duncan clear glazes can’t be trusted at stoneware temperatures. (Pictured: earthenware, before third firing.)

This 1/1 hand-coiled fruit bowl went quick but we’ll always have the memories. 🤍🍋
