Thrilled to have several objects from @furnishing_utopia included in the traveling exhibition Shakers a World in the Making. Now on view at the @milwaukeeart Museum. The exhibition features Shaker artifacts from the collection of the @shakermuseum alongside works by contemporary artists and designers.

Five objects from @furnishing_utopia including our #4 Rocking Chair, and two bentwood Shaker Baskets alongside the One Thing clock by @ladiesandgentlemenstudio and Handy Rake by @chrispecce are part of the exhibition and are now part of the permanent collection of the @milwaukeeart museum

Our Rocker is a sculptural solid wood adaptation of the #4 Shaker Rocking Chair, a low wide armless rocker which was developed for doing lap work like knitting, and hand sewing and better suited to modern life. The laundry basket and square baskets are hybrid of Shaker oval boxes and woven baskets. Using a flexible and durable bamboo plywood. Making them extremely light, hard working and adapted to modern fabrication methods and everyday use.

@ladiesandgentlemenstudio designed the One Thing Clock with a diffuse glass panel that blocks out periods of one hour or ten minutes so the user can focus on meaningful tasks. @chrispecce
Handy Rake applies Shaker rigor to a wood version of a typical plastic garden rake, elevating the everyday object while questioning the preciousness around collecting utilitarian objects.

University of Oregon Product Design and Sports Product Design students presented Haus of Play @icff_official @wanteddesign students from my portable lighting and responsible chair classes showed their projects along with work from courses taught by our talented faculty at @uo.productdesign focusing on toy car design, green energy home goods, sports apparel footwear and equipment. A smorgasbord of thoughtful and playful objects. by @studiogorm

A bigger box for displaying bigger stuff with a few technical improvements: a magnetic light puck that can be repositioned on a metal rail to adjust the light position, some little post feet on the back to allow the cord to hang tidily from any position. Made from western hemlock, a super stable soft wood from the PNW. taken in Eugene, Oregon by @studiogorm
