With the publication of THE ECHO: How To Design Brands That Move Culture, @studioherrstrom transforms years of branding experience into a practical guide for creatives looking to build brands with lasting cultural relevance. Written by founder and creative director Erik Herrström @herrstrom , the book introduces a structured framework designed to help designers, marketers, and brand builders create identities that generate connection instead of simply following trends.

Published in April 2026, the book introduces a practical methodology for building brands that generate cultural relevance instead of following existing trends, offering designers, creatives, marketers, and brand leaders a framework developed through years of professional experience.

Rather than relying on familiar references and safe creative decisions, THE ECHO encourages readers to rethink how brands are created from the ground up. Herrström argues that many branding processes begin with the same visual inspirations, producing identities that struggle to differentiate themselves in increasingly crowded markets. His proposed alternative focuses on creating stronger emotional connections, meaningful narratives, and long-term cultural resonance.

Together with @thenewcompany we helped @fanatics expand its presence in the world of cards and collectibles by developing a new visual identity for @fanaticscollect

Fanatics Collect connects buyers and sellers of trading cards and memorabilia through fixed-price listings and auctions.

With thousands of items, ranging from sports and TCG cards to comics, video games, and more, and a global network of collectors, the platform offers a more energized and inclusive way to collect.

We worked closely with the team at The New Company to shape the visual identity for Fanatics Collect, designing layout systems, 3D visuals, and treatments for a family of sub-brands.

The identity introduces a bold new system that announces Fanatics’ entrance into the category: building on the strength of the parent brand while creating distinct visual expressions in the spirit of ‘The Hobby.’

The system is built to balance structure with flexibility. Capable of organizing a broad mix of content while injecting movement and energy through color, texture, and motion that captures the pace of the culture.

Together, we helped carve out a distinctive space for Collect, positioning it as one of the largest global marketplaces and auction houses for sports cards, memorabilia, and collectibles.

New project for @spotify

In collaboration with Spotify’s in-house Creative Team, we developed the visual and motion identity for Spotify Investor Day 2026.

Held in New York City, Spotify’s third Investor Day brought together the financial community for a closer look at the company’s business performance, product strategy, and long-term vision during its 20th anniversary year.

The event also marked the first Investor Day led by co-CEOs Alex Norström and Gustav Söderström, alongside members of Spotify’s global leadership team.

Earlier this summer, @herrstrom had a custom T-shirt made for speaking at @forwardfestivals and got many comments and messages about it. So @studioherrstrom decided to make it available for a limited time.

The Age of Meaningless Shiny Things tee is a reference to the first chapter in Erik’s book THE ECHO: How To Design Brands That Move Culture.

The T-shirt is made from 100% cotton with an oversized fit and comes as a regular or cropped tee in black or white. Featuring front, back and sleeve prints, each piece is sustainably printed in Austria by @leftkiss.

Only available until August 31 at leftkiss.com/pages/the-echo Link in bio #bountyhuntersarchive #graphicdesign #graphicdesigncommunity by @studioherrstrom

What does brand-building look like when references, trends and polished aesthetics are easier than ever to generate?

That question inspired our @sxsw proposal.

Toss the Moodboard: Build Brands From and For Culture.

A session by @herrstrom and @karagriffincushman about moving past reference-led creative processes and using cultural tension, audience insight and belief to build stronger brand systems.

If that sounds like a conversation you’d like to see happen at SXSW in Austin next year, take a peek at our proposal and vote if it speaks to you. Link in bio.
