STUDIO IMAULÉ | A STUDY IN SENSORY DESIGN

At Studio Imaulé, we approach design through the five senses, creating spaces that are as considered in their function as they are in their aesthetic expression.

For this three-bedroom company residence, the brief centred on three professionals: two young executives and a senior professional whose living environment required thoughtful mobility considerations.

Our design process began long before the selection of furniture, finishes or materials.

We spent time at the company’s offices and operational sites, immersing ourselves in its culture, understanding its values and considering how these could be translated into a residential environment.

The result is a space that balances individual needs with a cohesive design narrative.

Working with our in-house artist, we developed and commissioned a series of bespoke artworks, each conceived to complement the interiors while creating moments of curiosity and conversation. Art, in this instance, became more than decoration; it became a means of storytelling.

Throughout the residence, materiality, texture, colour, spatial flow and sensory details were carefully considered to create an environment that feels both personal and purposeful. Accessibility was integrated into the design language rather than treated as an afterthought.

Because good design should do more than look beautiful. It should understand the people who inhabit it.

At Studio Imaulé, our practice extends across private residences, commercial environments, hospitality, spatial concepts and curated experiences.

Whether we are reimagining a home, shaping a workplace or creating an environment for guests to gather, our philosophy remains the same:

You designed content. Not a space. Aesthetics matter. Of course they do. But beauty without consideration is decoration. Good design considers the person entering the room: what they see, what they hear, what they touch, what they smell, what they taste and ultimately, how they feel. Because the most beautiful spaces aren’t simply the ones we want to photograph.

They’re the ones we want to stay in.

VERDANT STUDY I — A Studio Imaulé Commission

36 hours. Layer upon layer, built entirely by hand.

Verdant Study I explores colour through texture, repetition and light an original 2 × 3 ft work commissioned and curated by Studio Imaulé as part of our growing art practice.

At Studio Imaulé, we work with artists to develop and commission pieces specifically for the spaces we curate. From the initial concept and palette to scale, placement and final acquisition, each work is considered in relation to the wider experience of the space.

Original work · One of one · 2 × 3 ft · $350 USD, excluding shipping.

Available for acquisition. Bespoke commissions are also available through Studio Imaulé.

Art should never feel like an afterthought.

At Studio Imaulé, our approach to designing for the senses extends to the art that lives within a space.

Through our network of fine artists, we curate, commission and develop original works for private residences, hospitality spaces and commercial projects. Each commission begins with the client and the architecture considering scale, materiality, palette, narrative and the relationship the artwork will have with its surroundings.

From developing the initial artistic concept to identifying and briefing the right artist, we oversee the entire commissioning process: creative direction, artist liaison, curation and negotiation, through to the completion of the final work.

Sometimes we source an existing piece. Sometimes the right piece doesn’t exist yet so we commission it.

The result is art created with intention, for the people and places it will belong to.

Studio Imaulé started with a simple question: how should a space make you feel?

For us, design has never been about how something looks alone. It’s the music playing when you walk through the door. The scent you remember when you leave. The texture of the chair you sit in. The way a room encourages you to stay a little longer, speak a little more, or connect with the person sitting opposite you.

We design for all five senses.

From interiors and spatial concepts to scent, sound, art and experiences, Studio Imaulé approaches every brief by thinking about the person who will eventually experience it.
