Nothing like getting props from your alma mater for your creative entrepreneurial journey 🤘🏾 Also shout out to my friend @whos_boudreaux for getting in the top 10 for @boosburgershtx !!! Another awesome project from the late summer! @small_wins_dashboard is a goal-tracking and culture-building tool designed by educators, for educators. Founded by Kippy Smith, the platform helps teachers, schools, and organizations visualize and celebrate the incremental progress that leads to meaningful growth—both individually and as a team. This past year SWD joined the @sideby.ai family , uniting two platforms deeply committed to educator-led innovation. While the partnership was natural—rooted in shared beliefs and overlapping founder relationships—SWD needed a web presence that reflected this connection while honoring its own mission: making progress visible and celebrating small wins. Where are all the Black designers in…. HOUSTON?! Well, to answer your question—you’re talking to one of them! A few years ago, a small connection in the @wherearetheblackdesigners Houston Slack channel led to an invitation to attend “Flies in the Buttermilk”, a conversation about Black creativity and design in predominantly white-led spaces. That meetup sparked my early involvement in what would become Black Design Houston. What is Black Design Houston? @blackdesignhtx honors local designers and expands what Black design means today. Our mission is to elevate and empower Black designers through inclusive community, advocacy, and education. What’s happening now? Momentum is building! We are creating programming and structuring both nonprofit and for-profit arms, but we need your help. This Giving Tuesday, I’m super excited to introduce BDH’s campaign: Houston, This Is Black Design—a fundraiser to get us officially off the ground. How can you support? I normally don’t outright ask for donations, but this is super important to me and the community I serve. Black people make up nearly 23% of Houston’s population, but only 3% of designers nationwide are Black. That gap shouldn’t exist—especially not in a city as diverse and creative as ours. Your gift does three things. It establishes BDH as a collective with real infrastructure. It moves us toward nonprofit status with legal readiness. It funds Q1 programming across exhibitions, dialogue, mentorship, mixers, and education. This year, we were thrilled to create a brand identity for @sideby.ai —an AI-powered platform connecting educators to learn and grow together through collective innovation and AI fluency. As an emerging player in the EdTech space, sideby needed a cohesive identity that positioned them as an AI tool that amplifies educators’ expertise rather than replacing it. Drawing inspiration from erasers, education-inspired textures, and fun classroom settings, we built a brand that feels joyful, nerdy, and authentically educator-centered. The logo embodies an eraser—because learning is messy, progress isn’t linear, and sometimes the best thing we can do is start over, but together. This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to work on a project I’m deeply proud of—honoring past and present Black women writers with the @wintergreenwomen . One of my goals has always been to work with Black-owned, mission-based brands with real depth and substance. And here we are today! The Wintergreen Women Writers Collective is a 501(c)3 gathering Black women writers in a creative community committed to publishing, preserving, and celebrating their work. After years of building community, they needed a digital presence and cohesive brand identity to move into the present and future. We developed “Quilted Stories”—a visual love letter to how individual voices stitch together to form collective wisdom. Inspired by Nikki Giovanni’s poem “Quilts,” the brand honors Black cultural tradition through dynamic patchwork layouts, vibrant color blocks, and textile-inspired textures that honor literary legacy. This is more than a writing group. This is where cultural legacy is preserved and Black women’s creative expression flourishes. Working with the Wintergreen Women Writers Collective was a true honor. To help preserve and celebrate Black women’s literary voices through design felt like meaningful, joyful work—exactly the kind of impact we’re here for.

Finally letting some come out of the design vault 😬 Around December 2024, we completed event designs for @lasfotosproject Fall 2024 Culmination Exhibition, “Stories in Stillness,” which premiered in early 2025. This project was super exciting because we used student work as the focal point for each respective class: CEO (Creative Entrepreneurship Opportunities), Esta Soy Yo, and Digital Pomodoras. The design called for a experimental touch featuring dreamy gradients, rich textures, and playful typography. It’s always a privilege to elevate others’ creative work—in this case, photography—and bring it to the forefront. 🌳New brand work that really resonates with transformational change that we are sooo happy to be apart of! Introducing ResourceWell (The Well)!
 ResourceWell is a values-aligned community and gathering space where nonprofits and consultants find each other, collaborate, and build real relationships. They disrupt the status quo by creating access and strengthening the capacity organizations already have.
 For too long, nonprofits couldn’t find the consultants they wanted doing the work they needed, and progressive consultants didn’t have a central place to connect. The Well offers high-touch, high-trust access to values-aligned partnerships rooted in intersectional racial equity and shared progressive values.
 We collaborated with ResourceWell’s Director, Davian Gagne, MSW, along with input from the LeadersTrust, Resilience Initiative and the Working Group to complete a comprehensive rebrand.
 From “Resource Hub” to “The Well” - we developed a nature-inspired identity that reflects their role as a true gathering place where resources flow and meaningful partnerships grow. 🌱
 This was my first time really stepping into the Creative Director role and I am sooo grateful for the trust in the vision! Big shout out to everyone who made this transformation possible!
