Welcome to Studio Laura Loving! It's time for an introduction post 🎉 Whether you’re here for art or inspiration, you’re in the right place. ✅

I'm an artist 👩‍🎨 and a writer ✏️ focused on sharing joy and cultivating spaces of happiness in your home and mind 🖼 🧠. I moved to New York City 25 years ago, a fresh faced graduate of the University of Georgia. I’ve now claimed my little slice of Gotham City working and living in Greenwich Village.

In my art you will find a celebration of color 🌈, pattern, beauty, strength 💪 and humor 😆: In my many odes to Lady Liberty 🗽, a reverent symbol of feminine power and our empathy to fellow humans of any homeland, In vibrant flower🌷explosions bursting with life, In scenes of friendship and adventure, In my colorful re-imagination of New York and Paris ⚜️, and In portraits of icons and animals. My writing features seriously funny stories about my life and work. Check the link in bio for a complete look at all things Loving! ❤️ #lauralovingwritesstories taken in Greenwich Village by @studiolauraloving

Celebrate the remarkable legacy of Dolly Parton Friday, 9-25! 🦋 In honor of Dolly, I am giving away a print on paper or ceramic tile. Tag a friend in the comments for a chance to win. 🔖👩🏻‍💻

Dolly gave us so much more than unforgettable songs. Her legacy includes:

The Imagination Library - providing free, high-quality books to millions of children and inspiring a lifelong love of reading.

Education and Scholarships— supporting young people and encouraging them to stay in school and pursue their dreams.

Disaster Relief — helping families and communities recover from devastating fires, floods, and other disasters.

Healthcare giving — supporting children’s hospitals, medical care, research, and community health initiatives.

Music and Storytelling — creating songs and stories that have comforted, inspired, and brought joy to generations.

Did you know that the butterfly was Dolly’s beloved personal symbol. As a child growing up in the Smoky Mountains, she loved chasing butterflies because they were colorful, gentle, and harmless. She said she related to those qualities and eventually adopted the butterfly as her symbol. It became woven into her music, her style, her personal brand, and even the iconic design of Dollywood.

Oh, how I love a flower painting.🌷🖼Flowers were the first things I was compelled to paint as a child, and somehow they are still calling me. 🌻☎️

There is just something about a flower painting. 🤔 It can cheer up an entire room, remind us of beauty and all the good things in life, and quietly whisper Carpe Diem, because nothing blooms forever. 🌼☠ Except perhaps literal flower paintings, which is one of their many advantages over actual flowers, which require water, sunlight and quite a bit of effort for their short duration of existence. 🌞👩‍🌾

The "Tiffany Triptych": are each available in prints on canvas, paper and ceramic tile. Shop link in the bio. 👩‍💻

Deepest sympathies to all those affected by 9/11, especially those whose wounds open wide on this day every year in grief. ❤

I was working for a financial services technology startup in New York City on September 11, 2001. The company was somewhat famous in certain circles and was memorialized in Michael Lewis’s book Flash Boys. I love Michael Lewis’s writing, but this is a sexist and inaccurate title because I worked there, as did many other women. I recommend the following tweak for accuracy: How about Flash Fam? It has a millennial ring to it, and anyone who has ever been part of a startup can tell you that the work is challenging, but the friendships you make last forever.

The daily grind of a startup is like a boot camp for your mind. My colleagues were all gifted in their respective fields. Each person brought a different kind of expertise to the table. Even me. Every organization needs a few creatives. A sprinkle of artists in a sea of analytical types can do wonders for keeping things afloat.

We lost our colleagues Doug Gurian and Chris Hanley on 9/11. They were attending a networking event at Windows on the World, the restaurant on the top floor of the World Trade Center.

Doug was a Marine and worked for us as a sales executive. I was the head of Service Delivery, and my group worked extensively with Sales. We loved Doug Gurian. He was a bit of a unicorn at our company in that he was at the top of the food chain, but he also cared about how everyone did what they did and why they did it. He even knew our names.

Doug was sharp. I never saw him when he wasn’t immaculately dressed and put together. Doug could perform miracles of diplomacy between squabbling, high-conflict colleagues as well as clients. To say he was a leader and a helper is an understatement. I am certain he was trying to help people escape until the very last second. He was that kind of guy. Doug was 38, married, and a father to two young children. (continued in comments) taken in Occulus WTC by @studiolauraloving

Tribeca Triptych is inspired by my collaboration with Trunkt Gallery in the early oughts. 🤝 I had one of my favorite art shows of all time on Greenwich Street right across from the old Travelers ☂️ building.📍My opening night was during the Tribeca Film Festival 🎥 which added an A Lister energy to the neighborhood. ⭐️ 👩🏻👨🏼👩🏽‍🦱👱🏻‍♀️👱🏾‍♂️👧🏼 We had an epic turnout that flowed out onto the sidewalks. 🥳 I met Ludacris and Jon Stewart that night. 😁 I made so many connections through this
collaboration.❤️ Where any of you there? Check my story today for photos of the event. 📸 taken in 388 Greenwich Street by @studiolauraloving
