Ormsby Mono. Lil somethin in the works that started as a weekend side project. Designed to cover everyday coding but, but uniquely given a wider range to be utilized at larger application for headlines and more as well. I’ve always enjoyed designing CJK typefaces because the characters are monospaced, and the similarities between a monospaced omnilatin typeface fit right in with that same attraction.

DM me if you want a trial font of Ormsby to give it a spin while I expand the letter set to over 800 languages.

✅ Cyrillic ✅ Greek. ✅ Katakana and Hiragana. ✅ Nordic alphabets. ✅ Currency. ✅ Symbols and other fun glyphs. ✅ Ligatures and stylistic sets. ✅ Over 345 languages supported. ✅ Over 2400 glyphs. ✅ Fully variable. March 17th marks one year and my first commit to the GitHub repo to save the UFOs behind this display type beast. Taking it slowly and steady, but it’s been a fun journey. SL Marlette, coming soon. #multilingualfonts #multiscripttypography #displayfont #displaytypeface #variablefonts #laxaltstudio by @studiolaxalt

Made a quick little character reference tool for myself today because I was tired of putting reference characters on a separate screen. When designing glyphs in languages less familiar to you it’s super important you stay true to their recognizable form. So, I use references for this quite often. And, if you want to use this little extension feel free to to find it on my GitHub - peterlaxalt, or just DM me and I can get you set up. I may adjust it to include multiple character references as well. Sorry about my terrible video edit, but you get the point. #robofont #robofontextensions #python #fontengineer #typeengineer by @studiolaxalt

Too lazy to recrop this video — but more progress coming along on the light weight of the Hiragana set. Tweaking to have it work better variable, but also touching up everything in general to feel more true to their stroke order and anatomy. Still far from final but cool (and fun) to see some variable non Latin characters! #studiolaxalt #robofont #fontdesign #fontengineering #hiraganatype #japanesetype #japanesetypeface by @studiolaxalt

More progress on lowercase light styles. Adjusting a lot of the caps and letters to more elegantly work with variable sizing as well. No kerning done yet. #typeprocess #fontdesign #designprocess #studiolaxalt #robofont #typography by @studiolaxalt
