Traveling trains the eye 👁️

My travels are where I find most of my inspiration, off the algorithm, really seeing and absorbing my surroundings. I return home with hundreds of photos from each journey, noticing that it is the small details that make a stay exceptional to me; the hardware on a door, the piping on the sheets, the weight of a room key, the stationery, a motif, and the back of possibly every beautiful or unique plate I touch.

This trip was all about the palettes. Color used in the most elegant, dynamic way. Never loud, always enduring.

A Ward Bennett appreciation post.

He’s one of the great American designers of his generation and a constant reference for me. Bennett’s work spanned disciplines from fashion to furniture to flatware, yet there’s a through line to all of it that feels instinctual. His work is substantive and layered, but somehow feels effortless as though it all simply came together.

For Gianni and Marella Agnelli, Bennett created their iconic 1970 Rome apartment, an interior with a strong point of view and distinct style that still feels remarkably fresh today.

Here are three of my forever favorite projects:
