In Pursuit of Publicness — the third B.V. Doshi Memorial Exhibition, now open at Kalavaani, Swabhumi, Kolkata.

More than a decade of work in open international competitions for the public realm — drawings, wooden models and texts, most of the projects unrealised — in memory of an architect who regarded built form as a backdrop to shared life.

With gratitude to the Doshi family; to Ambuja Neotia; to the curators Sivatmika J, Harini Shah and Reshma Mathew, with Prof. Rahul Mehrotra serving as curatorial adviser; to the critical essayists Suprio Bhattacharjee and Dr Kaiwan Mehta; and to all who attended the opening evening.

The 3rd B.V. Doshi Memorial Exhibition opens at Kalavaani, Swabhumi, continuing an engagement with architecture that is thoughtful, contextual and centred on people.

This year’s exhibition, In Pursuit of Publicness, presents the work of architect Madhusudhan Chalasani and MADe, exploring how architecture can enable collective life through spaces that are open, adaptable and responsive to those who inhabit them.

The occasion also marks the 2nd Prabir Mitra Memorial Award, instituted to recognise promising architectural talent demonstrating design excellence, contextual sensitivity and responsible practice. This year’s award was presented to Udit Mittal, Principal Architect & Co-Founder, QX Design.

We invite you to experience In Pursuit of Publicness and reflect on architecture not merely as built form, but as a framework within which people, places and communities find connection.

23 August – 6 September 2026
📍 Kalavaani, Swabhumi

Monday – Thursday: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Friday – Sunday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM

We are delighted to have received 4th prize in the Sports Campus Ďáblice architectural competition, organised by MČ Praha-Ďáblice.

Our proposal for a multifunctional sports hall and park in Prague was conceived as a frame that organises the landscape, rather than as a building within it. Open in summer and enclosed in winter, it sits at the threshold between street and park and between sport and community.

Thank you to the jury, the organisers, and everyone who contributed to the project. by @studiomade_book

Celebrating Our Vision: The CSPM Proposal

We are excited to share our team's proposal for the Centre for Physical and Mathematical Sciences (CSPM) at the University of Geneva. This project encouraged us to rethink the intersection of architecture, science, and innovation.

Although we were not selected as the winning team, the process was rewarding. It involved intense collaboration, bold ideas, and the opportunity to contribute to the academic future of Geneva.

A huge thanks to this brilliant team for their contributions:

Our proposal for the Alicante City Congress Centre, together with @atelieratlantico and @abraham.arquitecto
Even though we did not win the competition, we are happy with our work. We were up against some of Spain's best practices.
We believe it is one of our best works. It's always a pleasure to work with our extremely skilled former colleagues and friends at Atelier Atlántico.
