Time for another designer chat drop! Patterns are definitely IN right now, but with so many colors and prints to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming. Here are two quick interior design tips for layering patterns:

1. Keep a cohesive color palette
2. Mix the scale of the patterns (small, medium, large prints)

We’ll be sharing more topics down the road. We’d love for you to follow along and keep sending questions our way!❤️

🤎 Coffee Table Styling 🤎

Most usually a combo of books, trays, coasters, a floral vase, and whatever speaks to you. My personal also includes a gorgeous @cambriasurfaces slab ✨ which is so multifunctional for layering the upholstered ottoman.

Our chess game has been a staple lately, as the boys have taken up interest in playing. Also, if you spot the game under the table, you know the stage of parenting life we are in. ✌🏻

Summertime slow down is giving me a chance to reflect on all the things… and the Midwest Design Retreat is certainly a memory I continue to relive. And also one that deserves a permanent spot on the feed. Of course, wishing I would have taken a million more pictures… but intentionally taking time in my summer vacation to comb back through my many notes.

Grateful for the time well spent, and for all the connections and relationships made. It has been such a joy to follow along on everyone else’s journeys and to cheer them along from the side. I love watching others succeed, so being in a room with so many driven women was such a blessing to my soul.

A very special thank you to Jennifer and Melissa from @davisinteriorsmn for organizing such a beautiful and thoughtful event. Also to the speakers who were all so incredibly inspiring and talented, for your generosity in offering your time & expertise.

Soaking up some precious morning meetings ☕️ ♟️

Last year we created our outdoor oasis in the front of our house (which is actually our back year)… it is the place we all want to be… warm in the morning, shade in the afternoon, and comfortable seating for all occasions. Though I am in the market for a good lounger!

My favorite part of design is making your least favorite or least functional place your new happy place… and what was once our bed of 100 hostas and a death trap of an entrance is absolutely our new oasis! ☀️

Post spring break has us refreshing our home… rearranging furniture and decor to fit our current family needs. Growing up with a Momma who moved the furniture around regularly, I thought that is what everyone did. Come into adulthood to realize, no, many have one stationary home for their furniture placement (with an occasional Christmas tree spacing). I have always loved the change and freshness of restyling furnishings, and now having a big family I have also found it so impactful to the functionality of family life. My kids are currently 2, 4, 6, and 8 years old. So the season we were in last year is dramatically different than the season we are in this year. (Can I get an “AMEN!” Mamas?!) My philosophy is to make your home work for you so you can work less at keeping up your home. 🙌🏻

Anyone else in the spring cleaning/rearranging mode?! Need help? Comment in the DMs for Functionality Stying info, and to schedule the next consult date.
