Now in stores: Scandinavian Living

We’re proud to share that Project Lakehouse Loosdrecht is featured in the latest edition of Scandinavian Living, showcasing the story behind this serene villa on the Loosdrechtse Plassen.

A special project, marking one of the first projects of @merlevanhattum_interiordesign, designed in close collaboration with the client. A private space where calm, nature and luxury come together, built for exclusive stays and intimate gatherings.

Visual storytelling by @studio_aest.

Thanks to:
@scandinavianliving_nl & @pathoustudio for the feature
Paul Vos & team @newkantoor for the collaboration and realization

As I begin sculpting the artwork, a conversation begins. It’s my meditation.

My thoughts slow down and my breath becomes still.

Whatever comes up in that moment I process it through a conversation while the artwork is taking shape in my hands. Finally, the story develops and the title of the artwork surfaces genuinely.

If you are interested in a character-filled artwork for your space let me know ✨

No better and more fitting space to record a snapshot of my creative process than @ojai_amsterdam ✨ A heaven of peace 😌🫠

I chose a drapery image to communicate the emotion and the expressive potential it holds. A cloth can cover & provide shelter, it can swaddle & give warmth.

Honoured to see one of my sculptural works featured in Traces of Time by @betapluspublishing.

For the editorial setting of Project Loosdrecht, Ethereal was invited into a home where nature, stillness, and thoughtful design exist in quiet harmony.

Interior design: @merlevanhattum_interiordesign
Photography: @studio_aest
Architecture: @newkantoor

A reminder of how art can shape the feeling of a space and become part of its story, even if only for a moment.

Aletheia

What can no longer remain hidden
begins to surface

not as disruption,
but as truth
finding its way through.

There are moments
when something within us
can no longer stay contained.

In this piece,
the surface does not hold,
it opens.

Two forms emerge
as spaces within the whole,
not separate,
but revealed.

A quiet tension
between what is shaped
and what insists on being seen.

Release

Holding tightly
to what is known.

Afraid to loosen the grip,
to drift into what has not yet formed.

Disoriented.
Uncertain.

It is fear that constrains,
that distorts the direction.

And yet,

when the control softens,
something begins to take shape.

A quiet force
carrying.

No need to hold.

You are already held.

A composition in tension.

The red piece does not repeat the others,
but holds its place
within the same movement.

A different weight,
within a shared language of flow.

Not every variation carries weight.

The red was tested against
surface, light, and proportion
until it reached a point of resolution.

Some forms only appear
once we stop trying
to control them.

This piece began outside the original plan for the
Caught in the Flow, Collector Pieces.

Slightly larger.
Uncertain where it would belong.

Yet the movement within it
kept returning, until it found its place.

A different current
within the same language of flow.

The final gestures.

A moment where the work settles
into its own rhythm.

Not forced.
But intentional.

With the last touch,
the form begins to breathe
on its own.
