In September of 2011, I showed a video installation projected onto the ground of Artworks Gallery in Vancouver.

Collaboration piece with my husband @dorianparisi
The textiles arm piece in the second slide is my work from a few years ago. Made on a loom with wool and filament, it was created for a character I made called Roya. In Farsi Roya means fairytale. She lives both on land and in water. Having had to adapt to a changing world of rising sea levels, she lives in between the two worlds, yet neither one entirely. As such she experiences constant nostalgia for her former tribe; an ancient bloodline of land dwellers.

Your practice of bullying tells me you are bereft.
Your defensive projections, your lack of accountability for your actions only serve to point to your particularly violent illness of both jealousy and envy. The truths you think you are spilling, without love, are only lies. There is something delusional and corrupt about your psyche; a neurosis from your perceived place of power.
If you need someone to be on the bottom rung so that you can feel you are higher up, what are you without the ladder? Are you any good? Are you still clever? Do you like yourself?

Don’t come at me by making this about me being the victim because I’m not one! Leave me out if it. This is solely about your sickness.

Feeling pretty proud of the way this drawing -turned stitching turned out. Even more interesting is the back of the stitching! I always find the back of stitchings fascinating because it’s completely unexpected and out of control of the one creating. It’s something that just happens and is not planned. I did this on a page from an encyclopedia from the late 1800’s. It happens to be a Persian story too! .
