Rainwater can nourish plants, replenish the soil, and support an overall healthier landscape. Rain gardens, swales, stone channels, and native plants work together to slow runoff and give water more time to move through the landscape. Interested in learning more? The earth records its history through sedimentation, as layers of soil, rock, and organic matter settle over time — preserving traces of what came before. As designers, we work with this same passage of time. The places we create will continue to evolve and eventually become part of the earth’s next layer. At Tropos, this is central to how we understand our work. We cannot control what comes next, but we can take responsibility for the layer we leave behind. by @studiotropos

Every landscape holds traces of what came before. Over time, people, cultures, and natural processes leave their mark, adding new layers to a place’s history. At Tropos, we understand that nothing we create is permanent. We cannot control change, but we can take responsibility for the layer we leave behind. by @studiotropos

At Tropos, we believe thoughtful landscape design begins with listening to the land and learning from its past. We explore the relationship between landscape, ecology, art, and time. Want to learn more about it? Visit us at the link on our bio by @studiotropos

Intense sunlight, reflected heat, and concrete created challenging conditions for this landscape. By preserving plants where possible, introducing drought tolerant native species, and adding larger canopy trees, we created a more resilient environment. We invite you to check our last post where we explain more about the plants we used for this project 🤍🌿 by @studiotropos
For this project, we reimagined the planting with drought-tolerant native species that can withstand harsh conditions while supporting local biodiversity. The goal? A more resilient landscape where plants can better adapt to the existing conditions of the site. Swipe to learn more about the native plants we chose to transform this site into an ecologically resilient landscape. #Tropos #EcologicalDesign #NativePlants #LandscapeRestoration #ClimateResilience by @studiotropos
