Simple doesn’t have to mean ordinary!

Sadia and Samdanae took a simple two-bedroom house design and layered in their own ideas, custom details and clever solutions to create a home that feels anything but standard.

While shooting their home, I loved chatting with them about how their ideas evolved throughout the process - and how each decision helped shape a home that feels so distinctly theirs.

This bedroom might be one of my favourite examples - a bespoke futon bed and integrated cabinetry turn the bedroom into a wonderfully calm, considered space.

Quiet, personal and beautifully considered. | Arkles Bay, Auckland

Behind the scenes of a cover story ✨👀

A little look at what goes into creating a feature like this — chasing the light, finding the angles, shifting things just so, and capturing all those smaller moments that help tell the story of a home.

Originally photographed for Elena at @fremontstudioco , who trusted me to capture this beautiful project — it later found its way into the pages of @nzhouseandgarden … and onto the cover. 🤍

And then, the rather lovely part… seeing it all come together in print! 🥰 | Auckland, NZ

Coco has always had a taste for the finer things:

~ Buttery Deadly Ponies leather handbags
~ A succulent NZ lamb roast
~ My friend Anya's Zambesi silk 🫣

This morning, she added the latest issue of @NZHouseandGarden
to the list.

I'm so thrilled to have photographed the cover story for this issue. It never gets old seeing a project make its way from camera to cover.

A heartfelt thank you to Elena at @FremontStudioCo for trusting me to capture this beautiful project and to the team at NZ House & Garden for giving it a place on the cover.

(Although Coco seems to think she's the real feature here!) 🐾

Confession time... sometimes I forget to remind you that I photograph exteriors too. 😆

I spend so much time sharing beautiful interiors and gorgeous details that it's easy to forget there's an entire building wrapped around them.

From bespoke homes to larger developments like these Remuera townhouses by @matzarchitects, I'm just as passionate about capturing the architecture outside as I am the spaces within.✨ | Remuera, Auckland

Who says the smallest room in the house can't make the biggest impression?
Thoughtful colour (anything but white), lighting that sets the mood, and one spectacular slab of stone.
Ladies and gentlemen... I give you, The Powder Room.

Yes, celebrate the moments you worked so hard to create!
Because we know that nothing is there by chance.

Every beautifully resolved space is the result of hundreds of thoughtful decisions - many of which will never be consciously noticed, yet are deeply felt.

Photographing Waterfront Retreat for @sarahfootedesign was a reminder that those quiet moments are often the most powerful.

They're the moments I find myself drawn to, because they're the ones that tell the story. ✨📸 | North Shore, Auckland taken in Campbells Bay by @studioweir

Every project has a moment that draws you in.

This one had many.

The way the light settled into each room. The sculptural forms. The restraint of the material palette. The craftsmanship woven throughout…

Every space offered something worth pausing for - and photographing with consideration.

Some kitchens whisper. This one by @at.space_nz knows exactly how to speak volumes.
There's a restraint here that takes real confidence - every element earning its place, nothing competing for attention it hasn't been given.

When a material this dramatic shows up, you just get out of its way.

A clever reimagining of the classic villa - where every inch works a little harder, and a little smarter.

Making the overlooked feel intentional, this clever shelving moment by @macfie.architecture transforms otherwise vacant space into a hardworking library, record wall and architectural feature all in one.

Do I even need to mention the rolling ladder? All the great childhood movies had one, so naturally I still want one as an adult. 🪜🤩

This moment from a beautiful Ashley home in Northcote is giving all the slow Sunday energy.
I can almost taste the coffee, hear the crinkle of the paper, and catch the scent of an @ashleyandcosociety Tui & Kahili candle drifting through the space.

Also, anyone else in absolute awe of that Fiddle leaf?! Plant goals right there. 🙌🏻

For those who curate carefully - even the television becomes part of the composition. A masterclass in disguise by @catherinewilkinsondesign.
