The #madrefire is now at 52,592+ acres burned in 24 hours, making it the biggest fire in California this year. Which is bigger than the palisades fire.

The #hughesfire started early before noon and took off. I’ve never seen brush and plants burst into flames from the heat like I saw that day. The heat and wind was making some crazy fire weather. Later into the afternoon after the bulk of the fire had really died down, some crews from Calfire put fire on the ground to make a controlled back burn so that the fire would have no fuel left to burn. Within a few hours the bulk of the fire was contained. The fire burned 10,425 acres that day. 2025

I was in Malibu photographing a brush fire when the alert for another fire came across my phone. I finished up photographing the fire and headed towards Camarillo to the fire which was named the #mountainfire As I approached I was listening to the emergency radio traffic hearing the reports of homes that were lost. The fire had aligned with the wind and took off burning anything in its way.

I captured these photos as I watched a house burn to the ground. These images were taken in the span of 3 minutes.

More images and stories like this will be in a new photo book I am working on about my time documenting wildfires in California over the past few years. Keep an eye out for more!
