MY ANIMATION/INTERACTIVE DEMO~😤👍 finally decided to present this guy to the world after sitting on it for about a month, haha. I was able to participate in @bangzoom 's open auditions at the LVL UP Expo in Vegas this past weekend. Since most auditions are online nowadays, in-person ones are always extra fun. Day 31: JEET KUNE DO - it started with a dragon, so it should end with a dragon. I think Bruce Lee wrote that JKD wasn’t limited to just fighting, but for multiple aspects of life. To learn many different methods and styles of things, to absorb what is useful, discard what is useless, and add what is uniquely your own, so that you can truly, honestly express yourself. And since you can apply that to so many things in life, I can’t say that JKD is a fighting style, but a very useful philosphy. Day 30: PENCAK SILAT - I was surprised to find how similar Silat was to Kali. But then again, Indonesians and Filipinos seem like pretty close cousins, so. Not so surprising, I suppose😤 I feel like Silat implements more kicks tho, which I dig. Day 29: KRAV MAGA - this always seemed like a pretty useful style (which I imagine it should be, since this is taught to the Israeli troops). But it is pretty much a culmination of the most useful parts of other styles, so. Makes sense. Day 28: AIKIDO - This was actually suggested to me by my dad. Cuz he said it was a style that could be suited for smaller guys. Day 27: FISTICUFFS/BAREKNUCKLE BOXING - I wondered for a long time the reasoning for this stance. Apparently it’s cuz, since they didn’t wear gloves, headshots weren’t the main target here. Day 26: CAPOEIRA - I almost forgot about this one. Dude, I always thought this style looked HELLA exhausting. I would be gassed, like...5 seconds into the fight. Day 25: BOXING - I’ve seen that this is a controversial way to throw a left hook? I’ve always done them like this and the horizontal palm version always felt weird to me. Then again...I’ve only practiced with a heavy bag and not on actual faces, so...that may be a factor. Day 24: JUDO - ....I was trying to go for like...a Sonny Chiba/Takeshi Kitano-lookin’ character for this one, but...I dunno. And it’s PRETTY difficult trying to make this style distinct without adding in another dude in there to throw, cuz otherwise, the standing poses look kinda like generic grappling poses...I still like the character, tho. Day 23: WING CHUN - almost got away from me, eehhhhhhh??? My only knowledge of this style from when I was younger was the Michelle Yeoh movie, and in a Bruce Lee autobiography my dad had that mentioned one of his earlier masters instructed him in Wing Chun. So when Donnie Yen played that same master years later and I got to see that shit in action....dude. I damn near pooed my pants.
