Watching forgotten island right after my trip to Philippines, was a little too much for this homesick crybaby. Within the first 10 mins, I was bawling. Seeing so much of me on the big screen was so special.

Buuuuuuuut I’ll be honest, I think the movie could’ve been better. The best parts for me were the non-mystical scenes 🥴🥲 which sucks because I was hyped to see the creatures duwende, tiyanak, and manananggal.

If you’ve watched forgotten island, tell me what you think!!

Forgotten Island vs Isay’s Island

Mini Jo vs Not-So-Mini Me circa 2009/2010

Not sure if that is actually spaghetti but pinoy spaghetti at a party just sounds right

Spotting that hotdog/marshmallow skewer on a fruit made my inner child scream! Also I can’t believe I found a baby pic of me with the same Jesus hahaha

Raissa and Jo dancing vs me dancing at my field demo. That’s when each grade level perform their own elaborate choreography lol I was probably in grade 5 here 🥺

c̶u̶t̶e̶ king truffle wuffle vs my menacing version of duwende

Didn’t know much about the movie so I had to look up what they were calling Tiyanak because what is BUNG-GEE 😭 his name is “bungi” meaning toothless, which is actually cute, but it’s pronounced BOONG-EE in Filipino. Someone correct my phonetic spelling if wrong 🤣

The matching purple moooooooon. Manang is actually scary 🫪

I’m back home in LA after a quick trip to the Philippines, my first home. I don’t make this trip often because 1. it’s expensive 2. I don’t like flying 3. I reaaaally don’t like flying for a long time. But I’m grateful I got to do it.

It’s weird to call it ‘coming home.’ I haven’t really been back to the places I knew and I grew up in since our families have moved. I guess home is not the place but the people.

Corny I know. But with everything life’s been throwing my way the past few weeks, I also know that it’s the truth. I’ve never felt more at home than when I’m embracing my loved ones.

Life’s been a whirlwind of emotions. I’m just happy to be back at my desk where I can create stuff and try to make sense of it all. by @stuffbymaria

My sticker don’t lieeee 🥺🩵

Sometimes in the midst of a bad day and an ugly cry session, Pedro would remind me that I am loved.

And you know what? That’s probably when I need to hear those words the most.

Exactly a month since I finished my online drawing class at lacc. Here’s my not-so-little show-and-tell dump if you feel like scrolling. Like an online art gallery ⭐️✨

Perfect song to capture this whole journey because I truly felt like quitting before, during, and after every assignment 🫪😂

I’m still glad mi amor Pedro encouraged me to take this class because now I know I’m capable of making stuff like these. Plus Professor Ko is the sweetest!!

My sister baked cookies. I took photos…and devoured said cookies 🤭

I love a gift that keeps on giving! The horsey and the bunny shapes were too cute I had to bust out the camera and capture them 🐴🐰 All that buttery goodness got me so excited and inspired 😅😋 My sister’s butter cookies don’t last in this household, so I had to act quick 🙂‍↔️
