Road trippin! Who doesn’t want to drive 1700 miles to Tempe in August? 🥵 Oh and did I mention it was a mother son excursion where one half of the attendees felt like we could just drive it straight through? 🤦🏻‍♀️😩🫠 Cute, but no, the one with a fully formed frontal cortex and AI planned an epic adventure for us which included stopping at my alma mater in Springfield. I got to see the updated Glass Hall. I went right to the marketing office as if I would recognize any one 🤣 but it’s still on the second floor. We had cashew chicken and Andy’s Frozen Custard too. The real shocker? The ancient apartment complex I lived in 1991-1993 is still standing 🤯 It’s one of the few non Greek buildings on Elm St.

We stopped at the Oklahoma State Capital building for a photo and FaceTime with @jaksdad606 where we discovered he only likes state capital pictures with his son if he’s on site 🥸 oh well, it was a great thought.

We saw some beautiful country (and lots of Oklahoma), the inside of a Firestone in Amarillo, TX for three hours 🛞🛞), several Starbucks, too many drive thrus, and sampled some of each other’s music 😩.

We arrived in Tempe and unloaded into the sublet just 10 minutes from campus. Kevin flew in Thursday night and we spent thr weekend getting settled and visiting our family nearby. Then 2/3 of us flew home Sunday. The 1/3 left behind is going to spend his senior year working in psychology research labs on the campus of Arizona State University. He’s been accepted to three different positions and should have a wonderful resume and grad school application if he wants it.

Meanwhile, back home again in Indiana I’m bone tired and hear the Tiger King “I’m never gonna financially recover from this” in my head. But that’s what parents do if they can, they drop everything and do their best to get their children off to a better life. And they stay in hotels on road trips. by @stumpfed

Part I of the Alaska Cruise for our 25th anniversary. I wish you could see the other 34,273 of them. Bear, moose, otters, eagles, beer flights, dirty bananas, midnight sun, fixed wing plane, helicopter, walking on a glacier, watching and hearing calving glaciers, enough crab legs to make the flights worthwhile. So much fun. Jakob was our driver to/from the airport, as well as our emergency contact. Bittersweet traveling without him, but peak open nesting for us too! 🫶🏻 by @stumpfed

I love hearing from former students. I’ve also never admitted to having any favorite students. But this? This is the absolute best, and now reigning all time favorite, message from a former student 🤣 Ive been laughing and telling everyone I can about it all week. Mainly just sayin “Can you imagine me being a math teacher? Now can you imagine me doing it in a way that a teenager would feel compelled to study?” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣☠️ Shout out to the math teachers out there, I am not worthy to be misremembered in your presence! by @stumpfed

Two years ago my DNA was altered, my brain overloaded, my heart full. It was a lot. More than I could ever imagine. Then @taylorswift casually and diabolically sat at a piano and mashed Haunted with Exile and I blacked completely out. I’m so glad I was already old, married, and a mom because trying to fit those events after this? 🙂‍↔️🙅‍♀️ Happy Erasversary @katie.meloche 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🫶🫶🫶 taken in Edinburgh, Scotland by @stumpfed

My Oura Ring thought I was working out today.

59 minutes. 373 calories. 107 bpm.

I was presenting. In a conference room for an organizational client. With a clicker and a slide deck.

But here’s the thing, I was all in. Full presence, full voice, full energy. The kind where you walk out and realize you left everything in that room. I have the privilege of coaching and developing a team of managers and I take that seriously.

Apparently my body doesn’t know the difference between a workout and showing up like you mean it. Though maybe this means I need to put more into my workouts…nah, I’m going with my excellent facilitation methods 😉

When people say I bring energy, I guess I literally do. 🔥 by @stumpfed

My dad was born with a cleft palate. On his 1937 birth certificate, it was simply labeled a “deformity.”

He grew up on a farm where kids were labor, especially those with abnormalities. He received no support. No speech therapy. No extra schooling. Just work.

When he was about 15, a maintenance worker at a factory where he was working gave him an old reel-to-reel tape recorder and a microphone. Fancy stuff for the early 1950s.
He encouraged my dad to talk into it, and listen to himself.

My dad was horrified by how his speech sounded. So he practiced. Over and over. Recording himself. Listening. Adjusting. Teaching himself how to be understood.

Years later, when I was about the same age, I remember that he played some of those tapes for me. On that same machine.

Today, I unearthed a box of old cassette tapes. My grandmother teaching herself to play the organ. Us talking in the car, laughing and telling stories; her voice preserved, even though she’s been gone since 1989.

And then… my dad.

Talking to me when I was about four. Asking me questions. Singing with me. Making me laugh.

It hit me how meaningful that must have been for him, to record his voice. To record connection. To turn sound into memory.

I’m incredibly grateful to have these.

And for the record: the evidence from my formative years confirms what many of you already know, I was hilarious, sassy, a little defiant, attention-seeking, and very clearly the combined energy of two of my favorite humans ever. My dad and my grandmother Wini. Two uniquely special people in my life is a gift and I’m excited to get these tapes digitized so I can hear them laugh again when I think about them. by @stumpfed

Ok, let’s see Anna in 2016 started the year on a volcano, dated her husband, devoted herself to her son and her students (almost equally most days), taught social media and sports marketing like it was her…job, worked weekends on her doctorate between ⚾️ ⚽️and 🏈 , took bite of the big Apple. Loved some luluroe, cared about her former students and her community. Yeah, other than her job, and that youthful glow, she’s me. I kinda love that. by @stumpfed

My word for 2026: steady.

About a year ago, I stepped away from Instagram and Facebook to create more space, less noise, and a better relationship with my attention.

I’m still skeptical of platforms built to extract rather than connect. The algorithms exhaust me. That hasn’t changed. But I do value community, and I believe it’s worth showing up for.

So I’m back on IG, intentionally.

Last year, my word was flourish. And I did.
I built programs, deepened client relationships, expanded my reach, and said yes to opportunities that stretched me. My family, my business, and my circle grew in meaningful ways.

What I learned in the process was this:

Growth at any cost drains the very energy that makes the work meaningful.

So 2026 isn’t about louder, faster, or more visible.
It’s about steady.

Steady is consistency without urgency.
Deepening what’s already working instead of chasing what’s shiny.

Choosing aligned action in a direction I’ve already chosen. Alignment was a close second for word of the year!

Not slower. Not faster.
Not smaller. Not bigger.

Just aligned with the energy I actually have. So I’ll be here as long as it’s aligned. Happy to be back!

Here’s to steady. 🌱 by @stumpfed
