Stuti is wrapping up its 2025-2026 season with one of our mainstays for Eastertide: the second part of Handel’s Messiah. Just under 60 minutes, this part contains choruses, recitatives and arias culminating in the beloved Hallelujah chorus. Do come and join us before we take a long break until October this year during which time we will be hard at work preparing some glorious new music for 2026-2027, including Mozart’s Requiem.

How lucky we felt last night performing at the stunning Church of Santa Monica, hosted by @mocagoaofficial. We debuted our acoustic shell inside a church and we couldn’t have anticipated just how ethereal the sound was: a combination of clarity thanks to the shell and warmth thanks to the natural acoustics of the church. As performers, we long for acoustics where we can hear each other, feel that connection and also feel enveloped in the bed of sound. Last night all 110 of us had that magical connection to each other. Euphoric!

As another year comes to an end, Stuti brings you an uplifting musical presentation for the season of Advent: the story of the birth of Christ told through music ingeniously composed by George Frideric Handel.
His Messiah has not only withstood the test of time, having been composed nearly 300 years ago, but has become one of the most iconic pieces in the choral literature. It has been one of Stuti’s landmark initiatives to make this glorious piece of music regularly accessible to audiences in Goa. The first part, which tells the Nativity story, will be performed in this concert. by @stutigoa

Puccini gives us this unforgettable theme in his Messa Di Gloria. It’s one of those passages which is so full of exuberance that we longed to rehearse it and it always made us beam with great joy! Qui tollis peccata mundi suscipe deprecationem nostram. Puccini must have loved the theme himself because he presents it four times in four different ways. We’ve had two incredible evenings of music making in Siolim and Navelim. We’re grateful to the two churches for hosting us, but even more to our audiences that show up in large numbers and pack our concerts to capacity and beyond… we are so grateful for your support which makes us want to do better each time! ♥️

The Stuti Choral and String Ensemble will open its 2025-2026 season with a performance of Italian composers spanning three periods: the Baroque with Vivaldi, the early Romantic with Rossini, and the late Romantic with Puccini. The programme will begin with a violin concerto by the Roman Catholic priest who devoted his life to the development of music, Antonio Vivaldi. The soloist for the concerto will be Martina Charles from Kochi, winner of the 2023 Con Brio Violin Competition, conducted by Smit Shah. Following this will be the pièce de résistance of the concert: Puccini’s Messa di Gloria by the 104 member Stuti Choral Ensemble with Kersi Gazdar and Rahul Bharadwaj as soloists. Members of the Puccini family served as church maestros for over 100 years, and Giacomo Puccini’s early music education began as a seminarian. He composed this grand work at the age of 22, marking his families long-standing association with liturgical music. However, later in life, Puccini found his true calling in opera and today is regarded as one of the greatest composers of opera that ever lived, and one can hear his penchant for operatic drama in the mass being performed. Finally, as an encore, Stuti will perform the thrilling Amen from Rossini’s Stabat Mater to end the concert. The choral works will be conducted by Parvesh Java with the Stuti String Ensemble led by Eshvita Menezes and pianist Nadine Crasto.

Here’s a clip of our performance last night at St. Michael’s church, Anjuna. After a programme depicting the pain and suffering of Mother Mary watching Jesus being crucified at the Cross, this passage from the Bible is a dual between death and humanity and in the hands of Brahms’ genius, death stands no possible chance. Do join us this evening for this deeply poignant and reassuring programme we have put together for you. Thank you @baritone_rahul for setting the tone for this movement with such poetic singing.

Highlights from last evening, when the historic St. Michael’s Church in Anjuna resonated with the ethereal harmonies of the Stuti Choral Ensemble. Under the baton of conductor Parvesh Java, the ensemble presented “A Lenten Concert,” marking the culmination of the Lent season.

Founded in 2009 by Fr. Eufemiano Miranda, the Stuti Choral Ensemble has been instrumental in reviving Goa’s rich choral traditions. Comprising over 120 members from diverse backgrounds, the choir emphasizes inclusivity, welcoming individuals regardless of age, faith, or musical training. Their repertoire spans sacred classics, oratorios, and carols in multiple languages, reflecting Goa’s multicultural heritage .

Their dedication to musical excellence and cultural unity continues to inspire audiences across the region.
