I felt it was a good week to re-introduce myself to you and my lovely new followers too! 👋🏼Thank you for joining me here! I have been an Interior Stylist (damn you spell check for always trying to change to Inferior 😂) for a long while now! I moved to London in 2009 to be with my wife and I changed career (from book publishing) at the same time. Styling is who I am. I’m a wife, a mum and a stylist. People say your job shouldn’t define you- but mine completely does. I love what I do, it brings me joy, creative expression, a career and an income..and the majority of my adult friendships have come through my styling career too. So my life is intertwined with being a stylist. Over the years I have worked with most of the shops, interiors businesses and magazines that you know and love and created imagery for their brands - and I bloody love it!I am the founder of @interiorstylingschool - the online school that I created in 2020 and something I’m so proud of. I have taught thousands of people how to become professional stylists and also taught people how to style their homes. It’s something I have worked tirelessly on and when I get messages from people saying how much they loved one of my courses- well, it makes me happier than you could know.I am also the author of The Home Style Handbook- a dream come true for me! A book that is both beautiful and useful and people can learn from but also looks good on the coffee table :) it’s sold almost 30,000 copies in English, French and German. It’s been an absolutely wild ride these last couple of years! I have styled many, many interior’s spaces for brands, magazines and people. I would love to work with your brand - please get in touch! I can create something amazing for you. No budget too big or small ❤️We are currently living in Sydney, Australia so I work here and also fly back to London twice a year for shoots. This is what 6-months in the life of a stylist can look like. I needed more than 20 slides! How are we in July already? My role is a stylist, creative director, brand ambassador, content creator, author, Founder of the Interior Styling School, now I’ve created Styling Tours with @jono.fleming - and so many things in between. I’ve never been one to put all my eggs in one basket- I don’t think creatives can necessarily. I love my life and all the wonderful chaos that comes with it. - Flew to London to shoot for @miltonandking - secret project I’ll tell you about soon!- sourcing wonderful locations- many many business meetings- spent the day with the amazing @anniesloanstagram!- shooting for @ecooutdoor - visiting galleries for inspiration - created @stylingtours with Jono!- workshops with @villeroybochanz - styled a project for @samnguyen.design - being a mum is my favourite bit!- won the @bhgaus Stylist award!- on a panel for the @designshow_au -traveled here there and everywhere- it seems I’m a gym bunny now….-shooting for @icon_by_design-currently working on my second residential styling project for the year too ❤️ by @style_by_lucy

My favourite thing to do is to put interior looks together from what’s available on marketplace. It’s takes me a few minutes but I love the thrill of not knowing what you’re about to find. Here are some of the looks I’ve put together this year. A bit of fun!Here are my tips for buying and selling on marketplace. Message people politely and use proper grammar. If you speak to someone like they’re a piece of sh*t they won’t reply to you. Show them you’re decent and kind and they will most likely pick you. To buy something cheaply (or for free) on marketplace is worth paying for a local van hire for a couple of hours. So much cheaper than buying new.Sometimes I’ll just use a colour as a search term to see what comes up. Buying second hand means no waiting times for delivery. You can pick up the same day.Learn how to clean furniture. If you have a good eye you can spot a good piece of furniture that just needs a good cleanSELLINGWhen you sell something make sure you say ‘cash only’ in the description. You won’t get scammers Take photos in daylightBatch your listings. I take photos of everything I want to sell all at once. I measure them all at the same time. Then the next day I’ll sit with a cup of tea (or wine) and upload them all at the same time. Put a price on the item that is a bit higher than you want. Then 10 mins later go back and lower all the prices. That way it looks like it should be pricier. People like to think they’re getting deal.Lastly, I live in a small place so I have a ‘one in, one out policy’ so if I buy something I make myself sell something! Happy hunting! by @style_by_lucy
