For this editorial shoot, we were inspired by a playful office siren vibe, the kind of late-night, after-hours energy where the “project” is due in the morning, but you’re just as busy feeling yourself 💼💄

My girlfriend: “Please don’t turn this road trip into a photoshoot.”

Me 20 minutes later:

“Can you hold this flash?”

“Actually… stand over there.”

“A little higher…”

“Perfect.”

This is for the perfectionists *cough*YOU*cough*… Some of my favourite photos are the ones that weren’t REALLY planned

To think that this photoshoot happened because i met Mick on a road trip to the coast and somewhere amongst conversation about our passions, she mentioned she had never had her makeup or photos taken before and showed me her BEAUTIFUL ETHEREAL MUSIC. I immediately wanted to create some kind of visual interpretation on the emotion that Miks music envoked that represented her beautiful personality.

The only problem? I hadn’t packed my kit.

So we raided every makeup bag we could find between us and somehow pieced together a cute glam using whatever had made it into our suitcases. It wasn’t perfect, but it was enough.

Then came the idea: “What if we shot something on the beach tonight?”

I quickly threw together a Pinterest mood board, convinced my girlfriend (who specifically told me not to turn the trip into a photoshoot 😂) to become my human light stand, handed her my Godox AD200Pro, strapped on my head torch so my camera could actually focus in the dark, and hoped for the best.

We were a little tipsy. The setup was chaotic. Nothing was “perfect”. But being creative has definitely taught me RESOURCEFULNESS WILL ALWAYS OUT PERFORM PERFECT PREPARATION

Mick told me she’d love to use these images as an album cover one day, and hearing that reminded me why I fell in love with creating in the first place.

If you’re waiting until you have the perfect gear, the perfect plan, or the perfect moment… this is your reminder that those things are overrated.

Start with what’s in front of you. Get inspired by the people you meet, their stories, their passions.

You might be surprised.

One thing I really love about this work is getting to meet people who are genuinely passionate about what they do ✨

Had such a fun early morning on set with Sav from @liftedbysav for her new personal training promo shoot. Watching someone actively build themselves physically, mentally and professionally is always really inspiring to be around.

Here’s a moment I captured of the natural, fresh makeup look we went for that still held up under gym lighting, movement and the chaos of an on-location shoot, and I stayed on throughout for touch-ups and lighting/environment adjustments during the session

Also such a pleasure working alongside the lovely @bysophia.photography 🤍
