✨I am beyond excited to be featured in the Style issue of @southtampacitylifestyle this September for my strategic styling and identity work and the impact I make on others ✨

When I was 20 in business school, I was in Barnes & Noble with my sister and saw Sallie Krawchek on the cover of Fortune magazine. She was the CEO of Smith Barney at the time, and was looked at as possibly able to save a troubled Citigroup with her strategies for the brokerage arm. It was inspiring at the time (2003) to see a female CEO in the banking world. She had this humble but powerful pose, and I remember thinking wow, she’s making massive impact and she’s on the cover of a magazine for her strategies — some day, I want to be on the cover of a magazine because of the work I do and the impact I make (scroll to the end for the cover).

Thank you @bethanynorman_ and @southtampacitylifestyle for making that dream happen for me and for being such a mission-aligned platform for what is the first of many features to come.

Thank you @bookwithaustintaylor @ostentaelur for the beautiful direction and photography to make this come to life, and to my client and friend @thetishwatson for being a special part of the feature.

Don’t ignore those seemingly ā€œsmallā€ or ā€œsillyā€ dreams you have - to quote one of my favorite business coaches, if the dream is in you, it’s for you. šŸ’ƒ

This is why I love my work, I always say it’s not really about the clothes. I love guiding women to come back to themselves through style.

In this interview, my fabulous client Jennifer, Managing Director of Cyber Security at Accenture, shares the life changes that brought her to me, and how coming back to herself through style has completely changed how she feels.

Revamping your wardrobe isn’t shopping for some outfits and it isn’t about ā€œlooking better.ā€

You can truly re-energize yourself by elevating your style, authentically.

Last week in New York, Isobel Kershaw @thestylistlondon hosted The Elite Stylist Mastermind, and I had the privilege of joining her as co-host. We welcomed an intimate group of elite stylists who are investing in taking their businesses to the next level.

Isobel led the program on building technical acumen and the language that creates true market differentiation, with sessions on menswear and styling, color intelligence, executive presence and communication, working with brands, and business strategy. Her approach to color intelligence is built around each individual client and moves well beyond the formula-driven systems that put people in boxes.

I led the sessions on NLP, sharing the tools I use to eliminate the limiting beliefs that hold us back in our businesses and our lives, so that strategy translates into real execution.

Special thanks to @projectbeenyc for sharing the story behind her collection, 34B, and to @isaia and @partow_official for hosting our group and showcasing their collections.

To every stylist who joined us, we look forward to seeing what you build from here ✨

People hear I use NLP with some of my styling clients and assume it’s a buzzword.

Here’s what it actually is. I could restyle some people head to toe, and if that’s all we did, they’d be back in their same comfort zone within a month. The clothes changed, they didn’t.

So for those who fall in this camp, we start well before the wardrobe. There’s usually a decision that was made a long time ago, often after one comment or incident about how they look or something around money, that’s still running the show. We go back to it and release it. Then we work on how they see themselves, because that picture in your head has settings, and people who feel invisible tend to picture themselves small and dim and off to the side.

Then the clothes come back in. We anchor that new state to real pieces, so the wardrobe does the work on its own.

That’s why it holds. Months later they haven’t slipped back, because the change happened in the mind before it happened in the wardrobe. This ensures a secure wardrobe investment AND an exciting wardrobe that is built around true self-expression and authenticity.

I was recently the keynote speaker at the @southtampacitylifestyle launch of the September Style issue and my cover feature discussing my core philosophy and what I coach my clients on constantly: there is something much bigger underneath confidence.

Confidence is situational and circumstantial, and it comes from putting in the reps on something. It is also completely overused in this industry and I don’t think clothing builds confidence the way this industry claims.

What is underneath confidence is self-trust, and what’s underneath that is the key - congruence. Being right with yourself and in true alignment with who you are. Those ā€œconfidentā€ people you see owning a room aren’t confident, they have self-trust and self-assurance at a deeper level.

Clothing and style amplify that. And when you have self-trust and you are congruent, style becomes a powerful tool for expression and amplification vs. something you lean on to create confidence.

This is at the core of the work I do and it’s why I have incorporated identity transformation into my styling. I had a client last week who cleared beliefs about her business she’d carried since childhood, and within our session, was telling me she was ready to get her wardrobe to match her identity and where she’s going.

For some, all the clothing in the world won’t change them into who they want to become. Identity level reinvention is needed before the wardrobe gets built around it. And that’s how you build true, authentic style and a wardrobe that stops feeling like a collection of trends and things that aren’t you.

Thank you @southtampacitylifestyle and @thespiralstaircasetampa for the opportunity to inspire and spark curiosity in so many.

Anne Hathaway, pregnant at 43, recently showed her bare bump at a premiere and thousands of people on social media called it gross, disgusting, and fake. One comment with over 5k likes blamed her stylist calling it a ā€œstylist fail.ā€

I’m also pregnant at 43 and I’m a stylist and I think her stylist did exactly what I would do. The real fail would’ve been putting her in something that hid her.

I’ve gained 20lbs and in the same week I’ve been told I’m barely showing and don’t look pregnant, and that I’ve gained weight and I’m huge (nice, right?).

My comments come from people I know and some strangers instead of millions of people on social media but the underlying issue is the same - the second a woman’s body changes, people feel entitled to freely comment on it the way they wouldn’t about anything else.

I’m not doing maternity wear. I’m not giving up my authentic style to hide my belly or ā€œdress for comfort.ā€ I’m simply sizing up as I need to. It’s still my body and I’m not dressing like someone else for 9 months to make anyone more comfortable.

To those who make these comments, check in with your own insecurities. To my fellow pregnant or soon to be pregnant women, you don’t have to compromise your style or hide yourself simply because your body is going through some temporary changes.

Onwards and upwards! šŸ’ƒ

ā€œI feel good at home. Then I leave the house and see what other women are wearing, and I instantly hate what I have on.ā€

I hear this constantly. If this is you, you’re not alone.

Some of the reason why is practical. You shop the same one or two places because you don’t know where else works for you.

You may not have pieces that are versatile because you think everything needs to be matchy-matchy, and no one ever showed you how to combine what you already own.

A lot of it may be that you’ve never cultivated your own authentic style.

And some if it runs deeper. Spending money on yourself feels wrong or indulgent, or maybe you don’t like feeling visible.

If any of this sounds like you, nothing is wrong with you. Both the practical and the deep can easily be tended to so you feel good and aligned, no matter what anyone else is doing or wearing.

Sometimes, God has other plans. It’s a boy. Baby STYL/FWRD coming December 2026 šŸ¤

Those who know me intimately know that I’ve never wanted kids. I never had that feeling in me or that desire, and although everyone said the feeling and desire would come, they just never did.

So finding out I was pregnant took some getting used to, to say the least. I didn’t identify with being a mother — especially not at this point in my life. There was a path I had planned, and I needed time to make peace with something completely different.

I got quiet for a while. Nothing slowed down, I was doing deep work privately while everything else kept going - STYL/FWRD never stopped and neither did I.

It took real work to come out of that and accept and embrace God’s blessing in our lives, and this new path forward for me and for us. I don’t know exactly what life looks like from here, but I know God makes no mistakes, and in His decisions, I trust.

Craig has been the most supportive, loving partner through all of it — never letting me lift a finger, and showing up for me no matter what I was feeling.

I can honestly say I cannot wait to watch him be the most amazing father to our baby boy. 🦁

An exciting new chapter - for me, for us, and for STYL/FWRD. šŸ¤
