You probably think your displays need more expensive props, fancy fixtures, or a professional merchandiser to get people through your door.

But here’s the problem:
A “pretty” display without purpose is just expensive decoration.

It doesn’t grab attention.
It doesn’t create desire.
And it doesn’t guarantee sales.

The fix?
Be strategic with your displays, not spendy.

You can create displays that stop traffic and bring more people into your store, without blowing your budget! Here’s a few tricks:

✅ Pick one clear story—a season, a mood, a color—and build around it using props you already have or can borrow.

✅ Use simple height tricks—crates, risers, a stack of books—to create visual interest without buying new fixtures.

✅ Refresh the products displayed often so it feels new (without having to spend more on props)

✅ Add more color! Sometimes a simple paint job can make a huge difference in how much your store stands out.

Remember: Your displays are important, but your inventory should be doing most of the work to make you sales!

Just because you have a strong sense of style, doesn’t mean you’ll have a successful boutique.🙅🏼‍♀️

Here’s the thing:

I used to think that the most successful boutique owners were the ones who were the most stylish #stylishandsuccessful

They had the coolest styles,
The best fashion sense,
They were ahead of the trends…

But then I realized, it wasn’t just about their sense of style, it was how they strategically planned their product assortment for profit.

Your fashion sense and personal style is going to serve you so much when starting your boutique AND it also takes so much more than that…

I'll be vulnerable for a second.

I have sat on my back porch thinking none of this is
ever going to work. Questioning everything. And my
friends have talked me back every single time.

Having a business is hard. Existing on the internet
is hard. Seeing yourself on film is hard. It gets
easier — but it helps so much to have people around

Your boutique doesn't suck. You just hit a natural low.

It's not that you failed. It's not that your store suddenly went bad. Out of the whole year, a month like this might only be 7% of your total sales. That's it. One slow slice of a much bigger pie.

Stop making one hard month mean something about your whole business.

"Do I need new inventory?" No. You need traffic.

If sales are slow, it's easy to blame your product. But if nobody's walking in the door, your assortment isn't the problem. And if people ARE coming in and not buying, that's when you'd actually know something's off with your product.

Slow sales usually mean slow traffic, not a bad buy.

Before you order more inventory to "fix" it, figure out what's actually going on with your foot traffic first.

Giveaways are everywhere in the boutique world right now. 🎁

But here's the question I want you to sit with: what is so bad about your product that people won't buy it without a giveaway attached?

Because if your product is good, your launches are strong, and your assortment is on point... you shouldn't need to give away a car or a designer bag to get people to spend money.

Giveaways aren't evil. But if you're leaning on them more and more, it might be time to look at what's actually happening with your inventory.

Real talk: I'd rather you sell great product than gamble for attention. 💬
