Assistants, this is your room. Turn your notifications on, and when a job drops, move fast and send exactly what’s asked for. This is where the work lands first.

One rule: commercial work gets paid, and if it’s low budget, gifted, or for experience, we say so. Everyone deserves to know what they’re saying yes to.

This is only the beginning. Something big is coming in 2027. Stay tuned. 💚

Fashion runs on who you know. So we’re opening the room.

Stylist Elixir and Shut The Shop are teaming up to host a networking night for fashion creatives. One evening, one room, and the people who actually make this industry move.

For too long, getting in has come down to who you already know. This is us doing something about it. No gatekeeping, no waiting to be picked, just the door, open.

Expect a panel with industry professionals, a gallery of work, music, drinks, and the chance to meet the people you usually only scroll past.

📍 London · 29 October · Doors 18:30
Free entry. RSVP required, spaces are limited.

Come and meet the room. RSVP via the link in our bio.

There is what a client says. And there is what they actually mean.

“There is no budget” means the budget exists, it just has not been offered to you yet. “It is great exposure” means we are not paying you. “Can you just...” means a whole extra job is coming, disguised as a favour. “You will keep the clothes, right?” means they have no idea the returns run exists.

None of this makes them bad people. It makes them people who have never done the job. Your part is to hear the real meaning, get it in writing, and know your worth before you say yes.

Hearing it is one thing. Handling it is another. The contracts, the rate guides and the exact word for word scripts for every one of these conversations live inside SE Studio, alongside a private room of working stylists who have your back. From £30 a month, and your first 7 days are free.

There is what people think this job is. And there is what only we understand.

That “there is no budget” is always a lie. That the returns run is the real job. That you have steamed on your knees in a car park ten minutes before call time. That the money you earned in March turns up in May. That the whole shoot got saved in a group chat at midnight nobody will ever see.

If you have lived even three of these, you are one of us.

Save this for the next time someone thinks we just play with pretty clothes. And tag the stylist who is going to feel every single one. 💚 by @stylistelixir

If your creative career feels stuck right now, read this before you decide it is your fault.

Feeling stuck almost never means you are not good enough. In a creative career it usually means one specific part has jammed. Your direction, your book, your clients, your rates, your systems. And the rest is carrying the weight. From the inside it all blurs into one heavy feeling, so you try to fix everything at once and nothing really moves.

Here is the shift. Effort in the wrong area feels like failure, but it is not. If your rates are the block, a new portfolio will not save you. If your direction is the block, more pitching will not help. If your work is invisible, better work will not land until people can actually find it. Aim first, then work hard.

So get specific and ask the uncomfortable questions. Do you actually know what you are building? Would a client understand your work in four seconds? Do you know your rate, and can you hold it? Does every job start from zero, or do you have a system? The honest answers point straight at your block.

There are 8 areas where a creative career gets stuck, and yours is almost certainly one of them. Save this. This week, I am going to show you how to find exactly which one. 💚 by @stylistelixir

You want to become a fashion stylist. But nobody is actually showing you how.

Here is the truth. A degree does not get you booked. Calling yourself a stylist is easy, becoming one who gets hired is a different thing entirely. What gets you work is your portfolio, your pitch, and your ability to deliver on set.

So get on set as fast as you can. Assist. Build a small, sharp portfolio from test shoots. Pitch directly instead of waiting to feel ready. Set a rate from day one. And treat your Instagram as the portfolio a client sees first. The ones who break in are not lucky. They have a system, and every part of it is learnable.

That is exactly what my Break Into Fashion Styling course teaches you, step by step. How styling actually works, what clients hire for, and how to build your first book and pitch. Comment FASHION and I’ll send you the link to sign up. 💚 by @stylistelixir

After fashion school, you can feel completely lost. No one hands you a path, and the degree does not come with a job.

Here is the truth no one tells you at graduation. No one is waiting to hire you. The industry runs on freelance work, on who knows you, on experience you have to go and get. Feeling behind is normal. It is not a sign you have failed. It is a sign you need direction.

So start now. Assist. Put yourself in the right rooms. Reach out directly instead of waiting on applications. And learn the business side, how jobs get booked and how rates actually work, because talent alone does not move a career.

That is exactly what SE Studio was built for. The roadmap fashion school never gave you. Courses on pitching and rates, ready-to-use templates, a community of working creatives, and monthly expert sessions. Comment STUDIO and I’ll send you the link. 💚 by @stylistelixir

Are you stuck? Does your styling career feel like it is at a standstill?

You are busy all the time. Emails, the portfolio, posting, chasing invoices. It feels like progress, but the diary stays quiet and nothing really moves.

Here is why. The things that actually move a career forward are the uncomfortable ones. Pitching the client you actually want. Holding your rate when it feels high. Following up when you are not sure how it will land. Cutting your book down to only your strongest work. One pitch to the right person beats twenty emails to nobody in particular.

Every one of these lives inside SE Studio. The rate guides, the pitch frameworks, the portfolio tools, the client systems, and the masterclasses on every part of this career the industry never explains. A private membership from just £30 a month, and your first 7 days are free. Comment STUDIO and I’ll send you the link. 💚 by @stylistelixir

On the days it feels heavy, come back to this.

Because there will be days when it does feel heavy. The hours. The uncertainty. The invoices that take forever. But you did not fall into this. You built it. A creative career that actually works, in an industry that makes so many people give up.

You get to build worlds for a living. You get to watch people see themselves differently. You speak a language most people never learn. None of that is small.

This is the work we go deep on inside SE Studio, the real version, not the myth. Comment STUDIO and I’ll send you the link. 💚 by @stylistelixir

We have reviewed over 200 fashion portfolios in the last year, and the same mistakes come up again and again.

It is almost never a talent problem. It is a portfolio that reads like a scrapbook instead of a selling tool. Ten near-identical test shoots. Moodboards where finished work should be. No credits, no through-line, no clear reason for a client to book you over anyone else.

Your book is your pitch. It should say one clear thing: that you can deliver on a real job. Curated, not cluttered. Clear credits. A layout that gets out of the way of the work.

Everything that gets stylists booked consistently, the pitching, the rates, the portfolio strategy, lives inside SE Studio. Comment STUDIO and I’ll send you the link. 💚 by @stylistelixir
