She said yes to the board seat.

Yes to chairing the committee.

Yes to the leadership role she used to only watch other women hold, wondering what it would feel like to be the one people looked to instead of the one quietly taking notes in the back row.

Then she opened her closet the night before her first meeting — and every single option said the opposite of “leader.”

Stylized for Success is a styling workshop I created for Laura’s House for survivors of domestic violence —

using the power of clothing, color, and personal style to help women reconnect with themselves, rebuild confidence, and see themselves in a new light.

And it truly takes a village to bring this vision to life.

I’m incredibly grateful to KW Irvine, KW Huntington Beach, and Orgain for helping us collect clothing, and to every heart-centered volunteer who gave their time to sort, organize, and prepare for our October 1st workshop, kicking off Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Because sometimes, changing what you see in the mirror is the beginning of believing in who you’re becoming.

There’s a specific kind of client I love working with — the one who’s stepping into a new chapter and realizes her closet is still living in the old one.

Sometimes it’s a divorce. Sometimes it’s just years of putting everyone else’s needs first until her own style quietly got lost in the shuffle. Either way, she shows up and says some version of the same thing: “I don’t even know what I like anymore.”

That’s not a style problem.

That’s a permission problem.

And it’s my favorite kind of work.

We start with a wardrobe strategy — not a shopping list, a plan.

What are the rooms she’s actually walking into these days?

What does she want people to feel in the first five seconds of meeting her?

From there we audit what she already owns against that vision: does this piece earn its place, or is it a leftover from a version of her that no longer applies?

What’s left becomes the foundation. Then we build forward with intention — silhouettes that fit who she is right now, colors she’s always loved but never quite let herself wear, a wardrobe with real range: polished for work, easy for everyday, elevated for the nights she finally says yes to herself again.

The best part of this work isn’t the clothes. It’s watching a woman look in the mirror and think, “there she is,” instead of “who is that.”
