There’s something familiar about Ghost Photos, even on the first listen.

Sio and Daev Martian have been making music together for years, and you can hear that understanding in the way this record sits. Daev’s production moves between electronic, hip-hop and jazz, built around warm bass, a bossa groove and the off-centre details that define his sound.

Then there’s Sio. A songwriter first, she has a way of turning memory, love and the more complicated parts of being human into something deeply personal. On Ghost Photos, she looks back at the way we romanticise what’s already gone - old pictures, old feelings and the versions of people we hold onto. Her vocals wash over the production, giving the track its hazy, nostalgic feel.

Together, they’ve made something warm, strange and beautifully understated. Electronic music with hip-hop in its bones, jazz around the edges and plenty of feeling in between.

Every now and then, a record comes along that reminds us why we started this label.
Not because it follows a formula, but because it follows an idea.
If I Had a Band runs for eleven minutes. Long enough to forget about skipping tracks. The kind of record you put on, settle into, and let unfold.
Hear Daev Martian tell the story behind the record.
