Join us for a community-focused conference discussing the status of mental health concerns and improvement efforts in the Shenandoah Valley.

The Shenandoah Valley faces increasing mental health needs, as seen across Virginia and the nation, including a rising prevalence of mental health conditions, provider shortages, and increasing youth mental health concerns. Awareness of these issues and knowledge of community supports are essential to reduce stigma and ensure people know when and where to turn for help.

Goal: To communicate broadly through the community about mental health and the diverse resources available to support people in their wellness and recovery.

Leading Organizations: Shenandoah University, Valley Health, Virginia Department of Health, & Youโ€™re Not Alone Ministry

Other Participants & Presenters: Community organizations, mental health supports, local school systems, and more will share their experiences, expertise, and successes through multiple panel discussions and presentations.

๐ŸŽ‰ Excellence continues at Shenandoah University!

The Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing continues to provide one of Virginiaโ€™s best educational opportunities. Shenandoahโ€™s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is ranked No. 2 among private universities in Virginia!

Earlier this year, Shenandoahโ€™s nurse-midwifery program was also recognized as the No. 1 program in the state. U.S. News will release its 2027 Best Graduate Schools rankings next spring.

Adding to this exciting momentum, Shenandoah University has climbed an impressive 27 spots in the national university rankings over the past two years!

We are incredibly proud of our dedicated students, faculty and staff whose hard work and commitment to excellence make achievements like these possible. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Celebrating Our Faith Community Nursing Graduates!

Pictured with Ebony Henley, MHA, BSN, RN-BC, NBC-HWC, Shenandoah Universityโ€™s Faith Community Nursing Coordinator, are three of our Faith Community Nursing graduates who attended the Pinning Celebration in August! ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿฉบ

We are proud to recognize these nurses and their commitment to caring for the body, mind, and spirit of those they serve.

โœจ What is a Faith Community Nurse?

A Faith Community Nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who has received specialized educational preparation in holistic ministry and provides health promotion services within a faith community.

Working alongside pastors, lay ministers, and other members of the pastoral team, Faith Community Nurses help individuals work toward optimal physical, mental, and spiritual health. Their work centers on the intentional care of the spirit while helping members of their communities maintain or regain wholeness in body, mind, and spirit.

Faith Community Nurses may serve in paid or volunteer roles across a variety of religious faiths, cultures, and communities. The services they provide are shaped by the unique needs of the congregation and may include health education, advocacy, support, referrals, and promoting overall wellness.

Please join us in congratulating our graduates and celebrating the meaningful impact they will continue to make within their communities!
