My parents are visiting this month, so I wanted to take them somewhere they’d feel comfortable… not just trendy spots, but places that feel familiar, comforting, and truly good. These ended up being their favorites.
If you’re looking for traditional, parent-friendly Korean food around Duluth and Suwanee, these are definitely worth saving.

📍 what we tried
🥬 Hajun Farm 하준농원
farm-to-table Korean spot where ingredients are grown by the owner
everything feels clean, simple, and very home-style
self-service with ⭐️kiosk ordering, no tipping, and reasonable pricing. something my parents really appreciated

🍲 Hanbat Restaurant 한밭
classic Korean comfort food done right
ox bone soup is rich, deep, and very traditional
handmade dumplings are a must

🥘 Dubu Gongbang 두부공방
modern interior but very authentic flavors
tofu is made fresh daily and you can taste the difference right away
soft, clean, and very comforting dishes

⭐️ what stood out across all three
🥢 banchan is really good
kimchi, radish, and side dishes are all house-made and full of flavor

honestly, seeing them enjoy the food made me love these spots even more

Did you know Yemen🇾🇪 is widely considered one of the first places where coffee was cultivated? Arwa celebrates that heritage by serving authentic Yemeni coffee using traditional methods while sharing the rich culture behind every cup.☕️🫶

Rich, smooth, and full of warm spices.

Refreshing, fruity, and perfect for a hot summer day.

💙 Blue Lagoon Energy
A tropical passion fruit–based refresher that's light, vibrant, and a fun alternative to coffee.

🍰 Harissa Cake (Basbousa)
A traditional Middle Eastern semolina cake that was incredibly moist with just the right amount of sweetness. The toasted coconut on top was my favorite part.

🍯 Honey Comb (Khaliat Alnahl)
Soft, fluffy milk bread filled with cream cheese and finished with black seeds, making it the perfect pastry to pair with coffee.

Another bonus? They're open until 12 AM on Fridays and Saturdays (10 PM the rest of the week), making it one of the few local cafés that's perfect for late-night studying, remote work, or catching up with friends.

🦀 one of my favorite seafood boil spots in duluth 🦞

#collab If you're craving a seafood boil around Duluth, Captain Loui is one of the places I keep coming back to with my friends.

One thing I really like here is how customizable everything is. You can build your own seafood boil by choosing your seafood, sauce, and spice level. My go-to is always the Captain Loui Sauce, which combines garlic, Cajun seasoning, and butter. It's rich, flavorful, and perfect with seafood.

🌶️ They also offer multiple spice levels from Mild all the way to Inferno. I usually order Mild, and honestly, it already has enough kick for me.

Here's what we tried:

🦪 6 Fresh Oysters
Fresh, plump, and served with lemon. A great way to start the meal.

🍤 Fisherman's Platter
Includes shrimp, fish, calamari, and soft shell crab with your choice of fries. Perfect if you want a little bit of everything.

🦞 Build Your Own Seafood Boil
Choose your seafood, favorite sauce, and spice level. One of the fun parts is watching the staff shake the seafood bag right before serving it to your table.

🍓 Adult Caprisun
My drink recommendation. Refreshing, fruity, and a great pairing with Cajun seafood.

After your meal, Confections Bakery is located right next door, making it an easy stop for coffee or dessert.

📚 one of my favorite quiet cafés in Duluth is closing 😢☕️

#notacollab Just sharing one of my favorite hidden gems before it's gone. Cafe Rothem's last day is July 18, so if you've ever wanted to visit, now's the time. Check out @caferothem for their latest updates.

Whenever I need a quiet place to read, work, or simply slow down for a bit, I always think of Cafe Rothem.

It's one of those cozy cafés that feels more like a small library than a coffee shop. There are Korean books lined up near the window, comfortable chairs you can easily spend hours in, and vinyl records decorating the walls that make the whole space feel warm and relaxing.

🍣 hidden sushi spot near Roswell worth knowing 👀✨

#notacollab just sharing another sushi spot I recently tried.

This place is actually much closer to my house, so my friend and I finally decided to check it out. Tucked inside the Exxon gas station near Roswell High School on Hwy 92, Sushi Hut may look small from the outside, but the sushi quality really surprised me. ⭐️4.9 raining on googlemap w 259 reviews.

🐟 VIP Roll
Definitely my favorite. It's topped with a variety of fresh sashimi, making every bite light, refreshing, and packed with flavor.

🔥 Blaze Roll
Probably the most eye-catching roll we ordered. It arrived wrapped in foil and was finished tableside with fire, creating a warm, creamy roll that's just as fun to watch as it is to eat.

We also shared the Mirage Roll and Nabe Udon, which rounded out the meal nicely. (We split everything, so the receipt reflects half portions.)

The restaurant itself is cozy with a small dining area, but sometimes those neighborhood spots end up serving some of the freshest sushi.

If you're around Roswell and craving quality sushi without driving into the city, this is definitely one to keep on your list.

🍵 artsy café with unique korean-inspired drinks next to spa land 👀💙

#notacollab just sharing a cozy café I recently visited.

I stopped by Gong Gan inside the Spa Land plaza with a friend. I've heard they're known for their signature coffee, but since we visited around 7PM, we decided to skip the caffeine this time.

🌿 Gosu Ade (Cilantro Ade) $8.90
it was definitely one of the most unique drinks I've ever had. If you've had minari (water celery) before, it has a very similar fresh herbal aroma. It tasted light, refreshing, and honestly pretty healthy.

🌾 Mugwort Injeolmi Latte $6.90
which had a nice balance of earthy mugwort and sweet roasted soybean flavors. We also shared one of their desserts, which paired really well with the drinks.

One thing I really liked was the atmosphere. The blue color palette, art pieces, and unique decor made the café feel cozy and creative.

Next time, I'll definitely be back to try one of their signature coffee drinks since that's what they're best known for. ☕️

This was actually my favorite dish. Made with sweet potato starch, it has a soft, chewy texture and is topped with a sweet, savory, slightly spicy sauce that's really unique.

Loaded with handmade taro balls, brown sugar syrup, and classic Taiwanese toppings. A huge dessert that's perfect for sharing.

🇹🇼 I came for the skewers, but this Taiwanese pancake stole the show 👀

#collab Most people know Machi Machi for their skewers, grilled oysters, and late-night food, but one of the most delicious things I tried was actually their Taiwanese Oyster Pancake.

This was my first time trying one, and I honestly wasn't expecting to like it this much. The pancake has a chewy texture from sweet potato starch and is topped with a sweet, savory, slightly spicy sauce that made it really unique compared to anything I've had before.

We also tried the Taiwanese sausage, which was slightly sweet and savory, grilled oysters, skewers, and noodles. Everything was solid, but the Taiwanese dishes were what stood out the most to me.

🍧 Don't skip dessert either.

Overall, this feels like a great addition to Buford Highway if you're looking for authentic Taiwanese street food beyond the usual boba and snacks.

🍣 newly opened sushi & ramen spot near buford worth knowing 👀🌸

#collab If you're looking for a date-night spot with reasonable pricing, I recently checked out Arita Ramen & Sushi near I-985 Exit 4 in Buford.

The first thing that caught my attention was the beautiful 🌸cherry blossom decor hanging from the ceiling and the open sushi bar right in the center of the restaurant. 👨‍🍳You can actually watch the chefs preparing sushi while you eat, which made the whole experience feel a little more special.

We tried sushi, ramen, hibachi, and drinks, and honestly I found myself enjoying the sushi and hibachi the most. The hibachi was surprisingly good, and the 🍋Fresh Yuzu Sake was one of my favorite drinks from the visit. It comes in a cute glass bottle with a small sake cup and was super refreshing for summer. They also offer a non-alcoholic mocktail version if you don't drink.
