Sculptural Charcuterie Board: "A Functional Art Piece for the Kitchen"

This charcuterie board is inspired by the human spine; even though the human spinal cord is thin, it manages to support the head and body even if they are large. That’s why I purposely designed the handle of the charcuterie board to be thin and unique to give it a sculptural approach. Even though the handle is thin, it can support the entire body of the board and is sturdy.

The design depends on the type of wood because ordinary wood wouldn’t work to create a unique handle that, despite being thin, remains strong. Kwila wood is perfect for this as it is strong and durable.

I applied oils to protect and seal the wood, using food-safe mineral oil and beeswax, which contain no added chemicals.

I used Kwila wood here, which has natural antibacterial properties, making it ideal for serving and cutting food.

From praying, "Lord, bigyan Mo naman ako ng break," and worrying na baka dumating ang araw na mawalan na ako ng clients, to receiving one of the biggest opportunities in my journey as a furniture designer and craftsman.

Never did I imagine na mabibigyan ako ng pagkakataong makapag-propose ng furniture designs at makagawa ng custom furniture para kina Hon. Alfred Vargas and his wife, Ms. Yasmine Vargas and family.

napaka-humble, kind, and supportive nila. They gave me their trust and, most importantly, the opportunity to showcase my creativity and craftsmanship. Pinagkatiwala nila na dining chairs kaagad para sa buong Family nila 💙
