WHAT!! RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR WINNER!! @emergingdesignerawards What I should have prepared more for was my speech. I’ve never felt my heart beat that fast… ever. So here’s a much longer take on what I should have said. Firstly, thank you to @thelocalproject and @artedomus for this award, and for creating a platform that celebrates emerging designers. It means an enormous amount to be recognised by people whose work and publications have inspired me. To the jury, thank you for such thoughtful words and for understanding the intention behind the project. My journey into design hasn’t been the most conventional. I didn’t go to uni, I jumped into learning on the job and working in commercial design & build in the UK before moving to Australia. At 24 I was travelling around, riding horses and working in remote areas being a bit of a wild gypsy. After a few nudges in the right direction, I started editorial styling, and now 2 years later I am mainly practicing in interior design. To win this award feels very surreal. I love things with a history, objects that tell a story, beautiful materials that age with time, and spaces that feel collected rather than simply decorated. I’m really interested in creating interiors that feel personal and lived in, that have a little bit of unexpectedness to them, that reflect the people who live in them, and their surroundings. Filly House, was such a special opportunity to explore that. It brought together so many of the things I believe in as a designer, and I’m incredibly grateful to @honeypot_homes and everyone who helped bring it to life. And finally, to the people who have supported me and trusted me with their projects, thank you. I’m still very much at the beginning of what I hope to build, which makes this feel even more crazy! Thank you all, very much! Builder: @honeypot_homes Interior designer & stylist: Moi @jessicaalice_design Photographer: @dionrobeson by @subiacorestoration

The process behind our latest creation, Foundry House, began long before any drawings were made. There were countless conversations getting to know Karen and Pete before we ever put pen to paper. It allowed us to look beyond the physical brief to the intangible things often left unspoken — like how a space should make you feel, how you want to move through it over time, and the lived experience of those who dwell in it. The result is a home that’s an extension of its owners. It was designed by us, but it’s also not about us. Like Karen and Pete, the home is grounded, bold and welcoming. And a bit fun and unexpected too! If you’re on the journey to create your dream home, book a design consultation today. by @subiacorestoration
