The precision these guys play with is unreal.

Being an open-air show, the sound lacked some of the density their music really deserves. For most of the set, the crowd mostly stood and watched. As it turned out, all it took was a little growl from the stage, or rather a reminder that the mosh pit could get bigger ;)

Everything was played and sung flawlessly.

Periphery are simply a different experience live than they are on record. Something just clicks in a completely awesome way.

The only thing that left me wanting more was the set length. For a headline show with just one support band, it felt a bit on the short side.

I am really glad I was there. Their first show in Sofia, my first Periphery show, and my first time in this city.

Ale oni grają niesamowicie precyzyjnie.

Przez to, że był to koncert plenerowy, dźwiękowi trochę brakowało tej gęstości, na jaką zasługuje ich muzyka. Przez większość seta publiczność głównie stała i obserwowała. Jak się jednak okazało, wystarczyło trochę na ludzi warknąć, a właściwie przypomnieć, że mosh pit można jeszcze powiększyć.

Wszystko zostało zagrane i zaśpiewane bezbłędnie.

Periphery na żywo robi zdecydowanie większe wrażenie niż z nagrań. Coś po prostu klika zupełnie inaczej.

Jedyne, czego było mi mało, to długość seta. Jak na koncert headlinera z tylko jednym supportem, wydawał się trochę za krótki.

Cieszę się, że tam byłem. Pierwszy koncert Periphery w Sofii, mój pierwszy koncert Periphery i moja pierwsza wizyta w tym mieście.

Wikipedia says they’re a rock band. Well, this video brings together a few moments from their show in Warsaw. I can’t say for sure, but I have a feeling some people got absolutely rocked. Good.

Na Wikipedii piszą, że to rock band. No cóż, w tym filmiku zebrałem kilka bujających momentów z koncertu w Warszawie. Nie wiem na pewno, ale mam wrażenie, że niektórych nieźle rozbujało. Dobrze.

I think I finally started to understand the appeal of this band after this show. It was hot as hell, there were so many lost shoes, and there was constant movement. Great energy and an absolutely killer performance in terms of how much they gave.

Chyba po tym koncercie zacząłem w końcu rozumieć, co ludzie widzą w tym zespole. Było gorąco jak cholera, mnóstwo zgubionych butów i nieustanny ruch. Świetna energia i koncert, na którym zespół dał z siebie absolutnie wszystko.

I love watching bands I like grow. Even if their new material doesn’t always click with me, it’s great to see that the energy is still there, evolving, and along with it, the recognition and, most importantly, the mosh pit.

Well then, I’ll work on making sure that next time they come around, the question of how many people knew the band before the show will already be irrelevant :)

Uwielbiam patrzeć, jak zespoły, które lubię, się rozwijają. Nawet jeśli nowy materiał nie zawsze do mnie trafia, fajnie widzieć, że energia wciąż jest na miejscu i ewoluuje, a razem z nią rośnie rozpoznawalność i, co najważniejsze, pit.

No cóż, popracuję nad tym, żeby przy następnej wizycie pytanie o to, ile osób znało zespół przed koncertem, było już zbędne :)

This was powerful. The guys delivered an excellent post-black metal set, with melodies that turn your soul inside out and massive atmospheric riffs crashing down on the audience like a wall.

The pit didn’t take long to get going, and the crowd response spoke volumes about how much this band is loved and how long people had been waiting for them.

To było mocne. Chłopaki zagrali świetny koncert post-black metalowy, pełen melodii wywracających duszę na drugą stronę i potężnych, atmosferycznych riffów, które waliły w publiczność niczym ściana dźwięku.

Pit nie kazał na siebie długo czekać, a reakcja publiczności mówiła sama za siebie. Było widać, jak bardzo ludzie kochają ten zespół i jak długo na niego czekali.

Fast, aggressive black metal. The epic moments contrasted really well with the thrashy elements. Everything sounded raw and cold, in other words, exactly as it should.

Szybki, agresywny black metal. Epickie momenty świetnie kontrastowały z thrashową stroną muzyki. Wszystko brzmiało surowo i zimno, słowem, dokładnie tak, jak powinno.

During the show, I caught myself thinking that the band has noticeably changed since the last time I saw them. They’ve started experimenting even more, and even sound a little different now.

And while I prefer their heavier, more djenty stuff, it’s cool to see a band that doesn’t stand still.

Big respect.

Podczas koncertu złapałem się na myśli, że od naszego ostatniego spotkania zespół wyraźnie się zmienił. Zaczął jeszcze więcej eksperymentować i nawet brzmieć trochę inaczej.

I chociaż bardziej podobają mi się ich cięższe, bardziej djentowe rzeczy, fajnie widzieć zespół, który nie stoi w miejscu.

A mesmerizing voice, cool complex rhythms and melodies. None of the sound issues managed to ruin the good impression. But I’d like to send a warm greeting to the lighting engineer. I’m pretty sure every strobe light in the world was involved during this show.

But the guys are great. I highly recommend catching them live. It gets under your skin.

PS. And yeah, a historic moment can be found in the end of the video. A rare case when someone actually indulges the polish crowd;)))

Hipnotyzujący wokal, świetne złożone rytmy i melodie. Żadne problemy z dźwiękiem nie zepsuły dobrego wrażenia. Ale chciałbym przekazać serdeczne pozdrowienia dla oświetleniowca. Chyba wszystkie stroboskopy świata zostały wykorzystane podczas tego występu.

Ale chłopaki są świetni. Zdecydowanie polecam złapać ich na żywo. Przechodzi przez człowieka.
